Chapter 28; Messages From Tenko

*Dabi POV*

It kinda hurt walking back to the bar the next day, but I made it. Walking in, I waved at Kurogiri and Shigaraki before heading to my room. For the first time in a long time, Toga wasn't inside my room sitting on the bed. It was empty. At least for a few seconds.

"You're back!" I heard Toga yell, bursting the door open and running towards me with her arms spread. She jumped making me fall backwards onto the bed. A small but sudden jap of pain made me flinch, but I ignored it and hugged her back.

"Are you alright?" She asked, pulling away. I nodded, but she gave me a look. "Did Hawks hurt you? Do I need to, talk, to him?" She said with a serious look in her eye.

"You don't need to talk to him." I answered, watching as she opened her mouth before closing it and thinking. I cursed myself realizing what I had said as a smile crawled over her lips. I saw her take a deep breath and I was about to jump at her.

"Dabi you're a bot-" Was all she got out before I slapped a hand over her mouth.

"Shhhhhhh, nobody needs to know that!" I hissed at her, keeping my hand over her mouth. She rolled her eyes before pulling away from me completely.

"Ha! So you're not going to try and tell me otherwise! That proves it!" She said, pointing at me with her finger touching the space between my eyes.

"If you don't move right now, I'm going to bite your finger off." She laughed maniacly before pulling away from me.

"Fine fine, whatever. And before you ask, I won't say anything." She said, sitting down on my bed. She then leaned her head onto my shoulder and sighed.

"You know, after you left yesterday, Handyman started asking about Hawks a lot." She started, turning her head slightly too look up at me.

"Asking about what?" I asked slowly. What could that crusty bitch want to know about him.

"He really just asked about what I had talked to him about over the week. No specifics. We had been talking about personal stuff and he brought Hawks up."

"What kind of personal stuff?" Toga froze, looking away from me. "What was he talking about?"

"I don't go around spilling our personal talks, why should I tell you mine and Shig's?" She actually sounded, serious. Usually I would take it as a sign to stop, but instead I kept going.

"You just told me he was talking about Hawks." I pushed.

"Yeah, cause Hawks is your soulmate." She stood up and started to walk away. "Just, nevermind. I shouldn't have said anything." And then she was gone.

I hadn't ever had an argument with Toga that she thought was serious. Sure, we would argue and it would get on my nerves, but never would she just walk out of the room without a word.

I somehow seriously fucked up.

I stared down at my phone with a shocked expression. I didn't usually look at my phone during patrols, what am I saying, of course I do. The only people that text me are important to me. Including my new, friend I guess? Tenko seems cool.

I felt horrible though, as if I had blocked his happiness. But if I did, and he knew, (which he does,) then wouldn't he not want to talk to me? I'm confused.

I could feel a smile make its way onto my face as I texted Tenko. He was definitely a sarcastic, "I don't give a shit," type of guy, and I like that sort of attitude in a person. It was surprisingly easy to talk to a person I had never met before, and I didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
