(Part 3 to the Medieval Times AU. Read the first two if you haven't already)

Celeste's POV

16 years ago, my father, Cross, marched on the castle, killed the king. What nobody else knew was that he also killed one of my other parents and his lover, Nightmare. That has been a secret shared by him, Nightmare, and my other other parent, Dream.

He used his necromancy powers to create an army and bring back both Dream and Nightmare. Since then, he's been the king and our kingdom has become a safe haven for magic users. No one dares attack because of it. Cross knows this, and he uses it to his advantage.

He's never been bad to me. Never hit me, hardly raised his voice at me, and actually helped me when I didn't understand something.

It's strange. I've been reading fairytales for almost my entire life. When things seem perfect inside the castle, things are terrible outside. But things outside are pretty much perfect and inside, it's complicated.

I hate my father, I truly do. No one should have that much power. What he did to my mothers, that is unforgivable.

I go to my parents' room. Dream is sitting on the window seat. He just stares off at nothing. It's like this a lot, sometimes he and Nightmare are unresponsive like they can't think for themselves.

"Mom?"

His eyes seem glazed over. Nightmare walks into the room. "Mother, can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Sure."

"Is it wrong to want him gone? I want you both to be happy. I want everyone to be safe, but I don't think it'll happen if he's still in charge."

"Maybe, but you'll have your chance to change things one day. Necromancy does not mean immortality, and you know as well I do that once Cross is gone, his spell stops working so then Dream and I would be gone as well. We don't want to leave you alone."

"I know."

Cross's POV

Celeste walked into my throne room unexpectedly. He's grown so much over the years.

"Father, are you busy?"

"No"

"Can we go for a walk in town?"

"Sure" I know, he's been mad at me, since I told him about what really happened, but I hope this means he's come around to realizing it was what was best for everyone. I haven't used the book since then. I haven't killed anyone, and I hardly use my powers.

Celeste's POV

We walk outside and start heading through town. What happened was 16 years ago, I wasn't even alive, but even so, I want justice for it. I don' t think he should just get away with it.

I know what I need to do. Nightmare's words come back to me at this moment, Necromancy does not mean immortality. I hope he's right. I take the dagger from my pocket and stab Cross in the chest.

He grabs my shoulder and asks me a question. "Why? All I wanted to do was protect everyone." Then he falls over.

"Why couldn't you just be evil?" I whisper. I cry and look around at everyone who is in shock of what just happened. I wanted them to see. That's why I asked Cross to some here. I planned on killing him, that's why I had the dagger. I even poisoned it just to be sure he wouldn't survive.

I start running, as fast as I can, trying to get as far away as possible. My tears make it hard to see. I'm all alone. I killed my family.

I'm no better than a murderer.

I wish I had never been born.

Wow, you're still here.

Don't you get it?
