(So, I guess this means the book is no longer on hold. Take this random idea)
Cross and Blue slowly circled each other, Cross with his knife and Blue holding a simple broadsword. They waited patiently for the other to make the first move. It was a dance, a very complicated one, but there was some elegance to it.
They had come face to face when Nightmare led his group on an attack, of course, the Star Sanses had come to defend the AU as they always did. Killer had made a move toward Blue when Cross called out that he alone would be the one to deal with his rival.
So here they were, the tension high, sounds of battle around them, some sort of eagerness in the air, the excitement of the duel. It was important to never falter, not to show weakness, this only gives the enemy the advantage.
Cross was the one to make the first move. He stepped to the left and aimed a jab at Blue's side. Blue swung his sword at the side of Cross's knife and the blades connected before he was hit. Cross took a small step back.
Blue took advantage of the small opportunity to swing at his shoulder. Cross blocked and the blade skidded across each other with a resounding screech. They were in a blade lock. Trying to overpower the other by sheer force. Blue gritted his teeth, trying to push harder, he refused to lose. He glared daggers at his opponent.
Cross noticed that Blue was focused on his face. A dumb move really. He dropped his knife to his side and ducked while sticking his leg out and knocking Blue off balance so he'd fall. The other, who had clearly not been expecting such a move landed on his back.
Blue was annoyed by the playground tactic, he'd thought Cross had more respect than that. Cross only let out a chuckle, he wasn't afraid to fight dirty. Blue made a risky slash at Cross and it connected. Cross hissed in pain and quickly jumped back while the blade cut across his right leg. Blue got up while he had the chance.
They both were slightly sweaty and out of breath. The circling began once more. Even if they were enemies they found something about the other admirable. Cross's composure, Blue's determination, it really was quite a sight, two fierce rivals facing off. The only thing locking more than their blades were their eyes.
Blue made a lunge at Cross. The other caught his arm and tried to push him away. Blue grabbed Cross's blade hand and tried to get it away from him. Cross leaned in close to Blue's face.
"Is that all you got?" Cross asked.
"Not a chance," Blue answered. They were both slightly blushing from the proximity. Blue looked down for a split-second, noticing that the cut on Cross's leg had blood dripping from it. That had to hurt a lot. He kicked it. Cross grimaced and they both let go and backed away.
They were both tired by this point, they were tough opponents. Both were sweating profusely and panting a slight bit. It was getting to be a long battle. Despite that, they were smiling, the thrill was amazing. They trained so hard and now getting to actually use that against each other, it felt great.
They swing at each other with as much force as they could muster. The blades skidded across each other again, this time sending sparks flying from the force of it. They pushed back and forth but neither would budge. They both drew back to catch their breath.
Cross saw a chance to get a good blow in, he swiped at Blue's face. He only made a shallow cut across his rival's left cheek before being stopped. He raised his knife and brought it down as hard as he could. Blue grabbed the other end of his sword with his free hand to block Cross. They were pressing as hard as they could.
Blue planted his feet, one in the back, one in the front to have as much resistance as possible. Cross could feel the handle shifting in his hand, it didn't want to continue going down. He kicked Blue in the chest, once again knocking him down.
"Cross, we're leaving," Nightmare called. Cross looked from his superior to Blue. He had his opponent right where he wanted him, but Nightmare was leaving whether he liked it or not.
"This isn't over"
He hurried over to Nightmare. Blue had once again scrambled to his feet. Their eyes locked for a second and then Cross was gone. The battle was over, but that tension, the sparks between them, that still lingered in the air.

I had been thinking about writing this like all day and then the late-night motivation hit. I had so much fun writing this. Anyway, see ya, imaginary people.
