"We're home!" Madeline yelled and I felt my heart turn heavy.

I just made out with her husband on her couch.

God, what is wrong with me?

My heart cinches as if it's caged by a metal clamp. My breath hitches and my hands begin to shake. I'm such a terrible person. My vision begins to blur as I shake my head.

Huxley stared at me and shook his head. He grabbed my hands in his and squeezed them gently. "Eden, hey. Don't do that. You're not a bad person. There is nothing wrong with you. You hear me?"

I nodded and sighed, not particularly convinced. I just needed to get out of there. I walked into the dining room where Gracie and her mum are.

"Hey," I said enthusiastically. "What did you get?"

I'm a horrible person.

"Girl products, clothes, shoes." Gracie was so excited she could barely contain it.

I giggled. "Awesome."

A horrible, disgusting person.

I shook my head, smiling and shrugging my shoulders before squealing. Gracie and I headed towards her room while Madeleine went to hers.

"Let me show you what you got," She took the items out of the bags she carried and laid them on her bed.

An assortment of shirts, crop tops, underwear and bras ranging in different colours. Jeans and denim shorts in black and different shades of blue. Some jeans and denim shorts with rips and fades, others without. Next, she pulled out the shoes. There were three pairs. There were White High-Ankle Vans, Neutral Jimmy Choo Lance Sandal Heels and Beige Louboutin Cataclou Espadrille Gold-Studded Wedge Sandals.

I lifted the Neutral Jimmy Choo Lance Sandal Heels and whistled. "Nice."

"Yeah, I know," She grinned. "Dad said I could get it as an early birthday present."

"That was certainly generous," I commented.

"Very." She said. "Generosity worth $1,500."

I choked on my spit, "Wow."

Gracie laughed at my blunder and after I regained composure, I laughed with her. Full bellied, tummy aching laughter. I clutched my stomach and rolled around on the floor. I laughed so hard that it forced sensations of panic throughout my body. Physically, I begin to shake slightly and my breath hitches.
