I shiver when the man's eyes land on me. I move behind to hide but instead walk into something. Turning my head to look at it, I barely stifle a gasp when I look directly into the black eyes of none other than Amora.

She smiles evilly at me, scaring me shitless. It feels like reliving my nightmare. How did she get here?

"Come on, Princess," she cackles and grabs my arm in a death grip, almost bruising me and I gasp at the suddenness of it. I try to loosen her hold but she me. I don't move my legs but that doesn't stop her as she drags me with her. All the while, I struggle to break free of her hold but then stop when I hear my name.

I whip my head to look into Fenris's shocked gaze as he stares at me. He stands still for only a second and then his expression changes from shock to blazing anger as starts walking in my direction. I only now look at the girl standing behind him who stops my mate from coming to me. She's the same one, whom Fenris was engrossed with, during the ceremonial dinner.

He turns back to look at her and she shakes her head, speaking something softy and to my utter shock and disappointment, my mate stops, moving back a little.

Oh, Goddess! I hear someone laughing and turn to look at the witch who's still dragging me towards the rogues. The rogues growl evilly and smile in that cruel manner, making my hackles rise. I whimper and start struggling. No way am I going to go there willingly but she drags and drags me until we reach just a foot from the rogues.

"So, Prince Fenris, next in line Alpha of the Crimson Shadow pack. Shall we up the game?" sneers the rogue who questioned me. The witch releases me and walks to stand just behind him. As soon as she does, I take a step back. Away from the three of them. I consider running to Fenris and turn to glance at my mate who's staring straight at me with a stony look in his eyes and as if reading my mind, he shakes his head. I bite back a cry of disappointment, still looking at him, showing him exactly how hurt I feel right now.

Fenris stands there with his fists clenched, his eyes turning a darker shade of blue. He is getting agitated I can feel that in the way his eyes flicker from black to blue and then to black. Suddenly, the urge to run in his arms and soothe him dominates my mind. Ugh! The traitorous mate bond!

"Leave her out of this Xanthos," Fenris speaks for the first time and his voice soothes me. I calm down visibly but unfortunately Xanthos notices this and marches towards me to stop right in my face, drawing my body closer to his. I am literally draped against his body. It makes me want to retch.

"Please let me go. I am of no use to you," I plead pushing away at his chest as he leers down at me with his lust-filled gaze.

"Tears don't look good on such a pretty face, darling. You see, I will be the king when I finish off your bastard mate. Then, you will be mine. I'll even make you my queen instead of my mistress. I have heard that you like titles and crowns," he speaks and with each word, all my hopes to have a clean slate crumple into dust. All the struggle leaves my body as I let his words sink in. He knows about Aztec, somehow, he knows that I rejected Fenris. He thinks that I would leave Fenris in order to be the queen. Fuck! How did I get trapped like this? I now truly understand the phrase of "reaping what you sow" completely.

Xanthos, now that I know his name, has forgotten about me as he loosens his hold on me and continues talking but I just cannot focus on their conversation. Never in my life did I think that my stupid immature crush/ attraction, whatever, would be such a thorn in the path leading to my future.

I look at Fenris, trying to gauge if he also feels the same about me in the same manner? His face is stoic giving out nothing. I get scared looking at the expressionless Fenris but am also relieved to think that it's not directed at me but at Xanthos.
