SIERRA

A loud buzzing noise disturbs my sleep, forcing me to open my eyes. It's dark and for one moment, the horrible thought that Xavier caught me again and imprisoned me invades my mind. Only, the familiar scent of my mate keeps the hysteria at bay.

Slowly, the images of Fenris killing Xavier and then carrying me to some car, giving me hot water and then falling asleep, enter my mind. I fell asleep. Oh yes, and it was the best sleep I've had in a long time.

"Shut up, Fenris. She's awake," someone says loudly and a growl slips from my throat. It's too loud for my ears.

Looking around, I search for my mate knowing that he's here with me but my brain doesn't co-operate with me. I feel stiff and heavy. My body feels heavy as if I am suffering from a hangover.

He notices my discomfort, perhaps, as he leans over my body and soon, his face comes into my view. I find his wide cobalt blue gaze. There are shadows beneath his eyes no doubt from worrying about me. He has a beard. Oh my! He looks so mature with that hair on his face. His hair has grown, almost curling around the collar of his shirt. He looks at me for a long time before his lips turn up into a small smile. He is relieved I can feel that much but apart from that my body's all numb.

I want to leap out of the bed and burrow myself in him but am stopped by something. Finally, the blood starts flowing in my veins which allows me to move a bit. Looking down at my hands with great effort, I find the answer to my uncomfortable feeling. I've been injected with an IV. Why?

I want to rip it off but Fenris's hands stop my slight movement. I look back at him and frown. He shakes his head and then sits on my bedside, taking my noninjected hand in his and intertwining our fingers. His other hand goes to rest on my stomach and that's when I notice it.

Oh, my Goddess! Is that a bulge? What?

My eyes must be resembling that of twin globes because Fenris bends to rest his lips on my forehead, letting them be there for a while. I don't mind. I need the touch, the comfort. Oh my, how did this happen?

I wasn't pregnant. Then how?!

"Shh, baby. Don't worry. We don't know how and what is happening but we'll sort it out okay? I'm here for you," he says when I feel my heart racing at the possibility. I still haven't spoken but my throat feels scratchy.

"Water," I whisper and as Fenris is so close to me, he jumps up to fill up a glass of water before allowing me to sit up. Another person joins us on the other side of my bed and that's when I notice her. Nora smiles at me, her relief evident in her smile as she stands close to my left and bends down to kiss on my cheek.

I stare at her, puzzled at her behaviour. She just shakes her head before saying, "You have been sleeping for a month, Sierra. You scared us."

Oh! A month? A month after my escape. Two months after my abduction. Three months after my heat! Oh my! I am three months pregnant? How did this happen and why didn't I know about it? I should've been able to sense it.

"Here, drink this." Fenris brings a glass of water to my mouth and holds it while I drink. Once, I start drinking, I feel my thirst increase.

"More," I whisper, managing to not croak. He nods and then fills up the glass again. This time I take it from him and drink it but still I don't feel my thirst satiated.

"More. Just pass me the bottle," I demand and watch him smile a little at my crankiness. I slept for a month; I need water!

"Here," he hands me the bottle and then sits on my bedside, playing with my hair that is almost reaching below my ass. He pointedly ignores the bulge but I can't keep my eyes off it.
