"By the time we reached the school territory, elder Ernouf had also passed away. Since then, all the wolves present here are in mourning. We haven't begun classes or any other regular activities or meetings. It has all come to a standstill," says Fenris.

We are sitting on the couch in the living room where Fenris is telling me all those things that I missed during my sleep. He told me how Dominic and he had become friends and that his presence was what kept them away. I am grateful for his presence even if he was a prisoner and I wouldn't wish that life on anyone but because of him, my worst nightmare was avoided.

"Who poisoned elder Ernouf's food?" I ask fiddling with Fenris's hair which is in serious need of a haircut. He has now shaved his beard and I get more of his face to kiss and smother.

"I don't know. When I reached here, you were all skeleton and your recovery was my priority. Elder Alarick says that someone close that is a wolf with authority poisoned him as earlier that day they had had a meeting where Alpha Zac, Alpha Conan, Alpha Lycidas, and their Betas were present. One of them is my suspect but I don't know why would they try to kill elder Ernouf," he says and pulls at his hair in frustration. I quickly climb in his lap and rub his shoulders to help his muscles relax.

"We'll find the perpetrator, Fenris. Don't you worry about that," I say and Fenris buries his head in my chest, seeking comfort. I cuddle him close not wanting to ever separate from him. It's been only one full day that I woke up but I am still not ready to go out of our house and visit my parents or any of the Crimson Shadow pack. I need more time with Fenris and he understands that probably because he needs it too.

A knock on the door breaks our quiet cuddling session and I get up from Fenris's lap to go open the door. Fenris being the over-protective mate that he is follows me to the door.

Opening the door, I am met with the sight of a glowing Alcina. Her black robe's covering her from head to toe, her pale witchy skin tone glowing with a slight rosy hue, her eyes sparkling with mischief and something else that I can't decipher. She looks good, the best that I've ever seen her, not that I've seen her plenty times before but at least better than that night when she gave me that knife.

She immediately engulfs me in a hug, surprising me. She wasn't so friendly to me before but I let it slide and return her hug. Her touch doesn't hurt me and I realize that neither did Nora's touch hurt me when she took my hands in hers during breakfast yesterday.

"You look good, Princess. Like a grown-up and you are carrying my niece," she giggles before moving and hugging Fenris before bowing to him in that old-fashioned way.

"You look good too, Prince Fenris," she says and earns herself a growl from my mate who returns her hug before patting her cloak covered head.

"Where the hell have you been, Alcina? You went dark for months," he growls the last word and I frown in confusion. I interrupt them before the witch in question can speak.

"Um... No, Fenris. She just appeared out of nowhere to give me your knife that day when you were fighting with Xavier, the day you killed him," I say, relieving that horrible creature's claws on my skin.

Fenris pulls me to him when I shiver in dread and then we all walk towards the couch where he sits with me in his lap and Alcina in the armchair.

"Explain," he directs this to Alcina who is not at all deterred by Fenris's growly attitude.

"Yes, yes. Stop grilling," she says earning herself a growl. She just rolls her eyes at my mate and then giggles when he growls again which causes me to giggle too and soon, we find ourselves laughing at my poor mate's expense. Fenris sits there with his scowling face not at all helping us in stifling our laughter.
