Rhett's POV

As I lay there in bed with an empty bottle of rum in hand.

I fucked up. Badly.

I'm such a bad guy.

How could I even do that to her?

I sigh. I drop the bottle as the loud thud of it hitting my carpet rings through my ears.

I didn't even mean to do it.

Beli's POV

"Do you think Mr McLaughlin will be here today?" Queenie asks.

I shrug, "I hope"

We enter the class and take our seat. He's not even here yet. Just a bunch of students.

My heart sinks. Where could he be? Did he get fired?

"Are you okay? You're breathing heavily" she places a hand on my shoulder.

I shake my head, "it's my fault"

"What's your fault? What did you do?" She asks calmly.

"My fault that they fired him" I look at her.

"What do you mean? He didn't loose his job Beli, I asked Link where he has been and he told me that he's fine and just taking a day off"

This makes me feel better about myself.

"Really?"

"Yes" she nods once.

I smile.

"Why would it even be your fault?"

"I can't tell you here, too many people" I look around the class. We were pretty much surrounded.

"Let's go to the bathroom"

"So you almost had sex with him?" She kinda whispers.

I nod.

"Wow..."

"Is it bad?" I question.

"No I'm just shocked, you must really like him then. In fact I think you love him"

Love? I thought people can only fall in love once. And even after that it'll eventually die. Just like how parents did.

"I don't think so. I've already had my chance in love I don't think I can do it again. Love can only happen once" I explain.

"No it doesn't. It can happen more than once"

I stare into her brown eyes. She's being serious.

"Impossible"

"It's true, Beli"

"But, how?" I ask.

"It just does" she shrugs, "I know that's a lame reason but sometimes you can't explain how the world works"

Rhett hasn't showed up, we had Simon again.

Today has been a pretty quick day as the whole love thing has been the only thing in mind.

The school let us go home during period 4 so we can get ready early for prom.

"Do you want money to get your makeup, hair and nails done?" Mother asks.

I plot myself down on the couch.

"I'm fine. I don't think I wanna go"

"What did Logan drop out?" She asks with a hand on her hip.

"No, I'm going with Queenie since she wanted to go as friends"

"Oh, then what's wrong?" She sits next to me.

"It's nothing" I shake my head.

"Beli I can tell that you're upset about something"

I take a moment to reply. I should just tell her everything. All the things Rhett and I have.

"How can you love someone again? I thought it happens once?" I says instead.

"Love is something no one can explain, not even professionals"

"Did you love father... or Marco?" I ask.

She looks away, "if I had to be honest. No"

My eyes widens, "what?"

She takes a deep breath before saying, "I've always loved Vesta LaRose. We went to high school together and he was my very first boyfriend. We broke up because of long distance, it didn't work out for us"

I wait for more.

"He's married now with three kids" she looks at me.

"When you love someone... never let them go, even if things don't work out properly" she holds both of my hands.

I'm surprised mother even told me this. She never tells me anything. Or even holds my hands.

"Anyways" she stands up and grab the money on the kitchen table, "we should probably go and meet Queenie and Jacinta at the salon"
