Beli's POV
The day finally ends, although I'm still on school grounds waiting for mother to pick me up. I sit on a bench and scroll through Facebook for good memes.
"Hey Beli, how are ya?" Mr McLaughlin asks as he stands in front of me.
"Hiya Mr McLaughlin, I'm doing just fine, thanks. What about you?"
"Not bad. Are you catching one of the bus'? I heard that they're gonna be a little late today"
"Nah, I'm waiting for mother" I reply.
"Ah okay. How long will she be here?"
"Around 4"
"That's another... 30 minutes. You might as well walk or catch a public bus" he chuckles.
"Mother doesn't like it when I'm by myself in public" I tell him.
"Fair enough"
I smile in response. There was now silence between us, which was rather nice.
"Anyways, uh... I'll see you tomorrow" he smiles widely.
"Yeah, see ya"

"You are not going to that stupid party, you understand me?" Mother hisses as she irons father's clothing's.
"Do you really want to be one of those good for nothing drunken sluts or do you want to succeed? Huh? Which one?"
"Succeed" I say quietly.
"What was that?" He raises his voice.
"I want to succeed, father"
"You better! I don't want to take care of your dumbass just like I did with your real father" mother shakes her head as she tsk's.
"Exactly, now go to your room and complete all of your homework" Father throws a hand up as and lands it back on his lap.
"Yes, father"
