Last month, I took part in a duet with Destiny in a singing competition that gets organized by the school every year before Christmas. A lot of students have participated in this contest, in which 6 students are from grade 8th.
When we finally arrived at the school's auditorium, I noticed most of the competitors were already present there.
I was a total emotional turmoil. I was really excited about my first singing competition but I was afraid if I'll spoil it. I have no idea why Mrs. Henderson has chosen me for a duet with Destiny.
Never try to sing in this house again, you ungrateful little child. You have a horrible voice.
That's what I've got to listen to whenever I try to sing. I have a horrible voice.
I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked up to meet Thibbault.
"You can do it." He grinned.
"I don't know. My voice is not that really good." I whispered. "What if I spoiled everything?"
"You won't spoil anything and your voice is far from being not good." I slowly smiled at him. "You have really good vocals, little one. Remember that." I chuckled lightly when he thumped my chest.
"But what if--"
"Erase those what-ifs from your mind. Take a deep breath and go for it and trust me, it'll be worth a shot."
His uplifting words were enough to encourage me.
"Thank you."
Not long after, the contest commenced and according to the competitors' list, we were the 5th one.
"Good luck, lil bro!" Elliot smirked at me.
"I know you can do this. Don't be nervous and hesitant on the stage. Try to look confident and sing your heart out." Dad stated, bending down a little so he could meet my level. "I believe in you." I nodded in enthusiasm.
He patted my back before I saw everyone walk away.
We have practiced the song every day, diligently and I hope, it goes with our expectations.
"You ready?" A beautiful voice asked, approaching me.
I tilted my head to see a person, standing next to me.
"Uh, y-yeah, I guess," I replied, nervously.
Destiny was dressed in a white blazer with light blue ripped jeans.
"You look--" I didn't even get to complete the sentence before she cut me off.
"--Amazing, cool, hot, pretty, gorgeous, attractive, badass." She laughed at me. "What else, Connor?"
