Chapter 12; Telling Bree the Truth...

Kayla's POV;

I limp while walking through the tall grass, ducking behind the trees. I groan in annoyance of the new bruises Dani's pretty face, neck and sides are now sporting, though also knowing that most of them will fade within 24 hours. The swelling around her eye hurts like a bitch and makes it a bit harder to see ahead of me. Her lip is split, and I think he cracked a rib or two as well by the pain of it. I really hope Dale and Bree don't freak out. I would hate them to see them look at Dani with pity or anything like that. We both hate being looked at as weak or a damsel in distress, it made us feel sick.

As I approach the shack, I sigh at the sight of Bree, or his wolf Dale, to be more precise as I notice his eyes are beiger and have a gold glow to them. I guess it's time to tell him and Bree the truth, plus Dani did agree to ask him to come with us so...

As soon as he picks up on the sound of the grass crunching and twigs snapping beneath my feet, his head snaps in my direction with burning fury in them but it quickly fades into relief and gratitude with a hint of restrained worry when he sees it's me. His body relaxes as I reach him. He immediately links me. 'Are you okay?! Oh my god, your face...' I gingerly touch my swollen lip and hiss as it stings. I pull my hand away and see it's covered in blood. Sighing, I turn to Dale and look him straight in the eyes.

'Dale we can't talk here, if any of the beta or gamma's family happens to see us, they will go straight to my father and that will not go well as he just sent Dani to her shack for the night. If he catches onto us still being out and about against his order, what you saw him do to Dani in there will only be the beginning. Follow me, Dani and I will explain everything to you once we get there, but not before then. Don't ask any questions yet, you have to be silent, I need to focus on keeping an eye out now that you are with me. I need to heal Dani as often as possible over the next few days, you'll understand soon and then I'll give back control' I explain.

He nods reluctantly, falling in step behind me as I start to lead the way, watching me with worried eyes. Fifteen minutes or so later we arrive in Dani's clearing and by the time we do, the guy walking quietly behind me is Bree, not Dale.

I point to a large fallen tree trunk Dani uses during training, instructing him to sit down. "Wow, what is this place? where does that lead?" he asks in awe, pointing towards the small stone structure in the ground hidden by the shrubbery. 'We will get to that. Now sit down, shut up, and listen, you can ask all your questions after. We have to mind-link so we can't be heard. This information could and likely would endanger Dani's life, so don't make me repeat it and mention it to no one. Do you understand that Bree?' I ask him expectantly.

Bree looks at me nervously. He seems scared for Dani but also curious and eager to understand he more. 'I understand, I won't interrupt, I promise" he replies strongly. And so it begins, it's my job to tell him of Dani's heritage, but it's up to Dani to tell him about our planned escape and asking him to come with us.

10 minutes later...

'I would bunker down omega; I am going to let u feel a bit of Dani's current power.' I slowly let some of Dani's power flow through my veins and Bree is roughly forced to his knees, him being an omega and all. He looks up at me with unfiltered shock and admiration. I pull it back after a few moments. I have separate power, I am currently stronger than Dani, but we can both channel each other's power if we want to and as Dani progresses with her abilities, her power will grow too.

'I also expect her to receive her vampire in a few days and her dragon on the morning of her 16th birthday. I can't reveal anything to Dani about them as she needs to focus 100% of her energy on our escape right now, I can't have her distracted by the weight of knowing how much power she will soon possess. Dani's dragon, vampire and I were all in contact with each other before I started surfacing when Dani was 9. She will meet them soon enough. I know Dani trusts you Bree, she always has, and I have always trusted Dale. I have healed Dani as much as I can for now, so she can come back out now and explain the rest, though before I go, you can ask me any three questions you wish..."

'Okay, emmm...how rare is a mystic wolf?' he stutters as the first question materializes in his mind. 'A mystic wolf is only seen every 1200 years or so, next?' He has listened intently to every word I've spoken and his ears twitch as he starts to ask his questions. 'Wow, okay, how is the royal blood first triggered?' he wonders. 'The royal blood is first triggered if you are in serious physical danger or in so much emotional pain, that your wolf calls it forward for the extra power and strength, though it can't be triggered any younger than 13. Dani's brothers are not aware they are of a royal bloodline, so they are unable to tap into it's power and the royal blood is stronger in females. Your third question?' I answer. He looks deep in thought as he chooses his last question.

'What happens with mates, does Dani have a mate out there if she is a hybrid? What is she again?' he queries. 'She is a three-way wolf-vampire-dragon hybrid. She was chosen to rule and bring harmony among all supernatural species which we have not had in over 3 millenniums. I am a special wolf; she was given a vampire, Olivia, to work with me for survival in the wild. The moon goddess was responsible for that, but her sister, the sun goddess is responsible for her flame dragon Reno. Both of them needed her to be strong enough because they had to wait for a long time for the right person.' Bree and Dale are both sharing control as the lean forward on the tree trunk with peaked interest.

'It took all of their energy and they are now quite weak. They gave her extra power because they can't risk this attempt at peace failing. And as for a mate, Dani will have a mate, someday, but I have idea when she will find them. All I do know is that Dragons and vampires don't have mates. Reno is the last of his kind and Olivia has no interest in romance though when Dani and I find our mate, Olivia's feelings might change' I explain. 'Goddess! Okay, thank you Kayla, you can bring Dani back out now...' he replies with a smile. I tap Dani's shoulder in the inner world and give her a light push forward.
