Dani's POV:
Shortly after I finish lacing up my new combat boots, I hear a sharp knock on my door. "Come in," I call, already guessing who's outside.
Timmothy steps inside, his wolf also present in his eyes and scent. As he tucks his phone in his back pocket, I can smell his tension, like a charged atmosphere before am electrical storm.
"Well? Don't keep me hanging Timmothy, what happened?" I ask, my heart racing.
He sighs, running a slightly shaky hand through his dark locks.
"There's good and bad news Dani. As expected, Alpha Benjamin is fully on board, you shouldn't run into any problems in his pack, he is a long term friend and has a childhood curiosity about you and how you were able to get me of all alphas to submite. Alpha Harris on the other hand will be an issue. He is the stubborn egotistical type, who doesn't like his authority being questioned or affected in any way. While he won't admit it, he is clearly threathened by the ideas of a wolf strong enough to take me down. He won't comply with you, so be prepared to fight once you reach his territory."
I exhale harshly. "It could be worse, at least one of them will be peaceful. What about magical disturbances, any word?"
"Ben said the stars went haywire in the sky above his pack last night too, flashiing, pulsing, within the same timeframe as they did here. And he mentioned whispers of a prophecy of some kind. Something about a prophecy child, nothing tangible just rumours, but maybe something to note."
I suck in a breath, my chest tight. A Prophecy. It could be connected to what Lexi heard last night as she ended her flight. It seems the threads aren't just reaching me, they are spreading.
"And Harris?" I ask, though the angry tick in his jaw tells me enough.
His lip curls in a faint snarl. "As pig-headed and ignorant as ever unfortunately. Totally outraged at the thought of anyone stepping into his territory without explicit invitation. He started screaming about you 'daring to try poach his wolves'. He said nothing about disturbances, too enraged. And-" he folds his arms with a small smirk on his face, amusement in his eyes. "He's expecting some buff male cocky Alpha wolf who's battle worn-I didn't correct him."
I smirk in delight, I can't help it. It will be a lot of fun to put this idiot in his place. "Good. Let him choke on that incorrect assumption when he faces me. He definitely isn't expecting someone he will simply view as a 'naive little girl'."
Timmothy chuckles low, wolf energy glinting in his eyes. "He won't know what hit him, I sure didn't." His expression sobers again. "He will greet you with force, be aware of that, he is less than happy with the situation."
Kayla hums in anticipation, eager for the confrontation. 'I can't wait to get my claws dirty' she giggles, the sound a harsh contrast to her statement. But before I can speak on the matter further, Timmothy clears his throat.
"There's something else Dani. I'm assigning you a small team of strong wolves in a truck, to go ahead of you guys to scout the perimetres for any traps and to transport any weak or injured wolves you take in, back to me here. It's best we prepare for the worst, rather than stumble into it.
I blink, taken aback by the strategic quality of the move. "That would be..great. Thank you Timmothy, that will save us precious time and give me some peace of mind if things go sideways."
His mouth quirks. "I'd rather not have to explain to the world that I let the future queen walk into an ambush."
"Fair point." I hesitate, then add, "There is one more favour I need from you."
