Crimson Moon's Pack Lands;

October 2018;

Dani's POV:

"Dani, where is my meal you little brat?" he spits furiously from the sofa. He has a beer bottle in one hand, and the TV remote in the other. 'Typical of him, he has been drinking since the attack.' Dani thinks. This is his 'chilling room'.

It's directly beside his bedroom and he always sits his ass down in there to watch tv, instead of taking care of his responsibilities as Alpha or as a father. The truth is Dani lost her father along with the rest of her family on her tenth birthday and she has been alone in this world ever since.

Reece has the Betas doing the paperwork that he couldn't be bothered doing, and god forbid you interrupted or questioned him...that would earn you a slap or two. Although, if it was Dani...she would be beaten unconscious.

"It's in here sir, is there a problem?" she asks innocently from the kitchen sink, her hands deep in soapy dishwater. Her hands are tough now from all the constant cleaning, moving wood, workouts, etc.

'I miss having soft velvet skin, now my hands are like the tough hands of a construction worker in the human world.' She thinks to herself. Reece storms into the kitchen, eying the plate of steaming food on the table. He gives his daughter a warning look, meaning there would be serious consequences the next time she takes too long to serve his meal.

He plonks himself back in front of the TV with his plate. Dani follows suit and stands silently in the doorway in case he has any other orders for her. 'I hate waiting on him like this but what other choice do I have?' She keeps her eyes trained on her feet, too afraid to look up unless she is asked to do so. His temper frightens Dani a lot.

She stands there silently, drying her hands waiting for him to either finish, give orders, or dismiss her.

She can feel him watching her. Dani slowly lifts her head only to find him glaring at her harshly. "Did you complete your morning tasks?" he asks, with an evil glint in his eye. Dani's heart begins to race, and her palms start to sweat when she remembers that she had woken up late this morning. She had to delay tending to one of the small guest rooms in the packhouse. Dani looks down at her feet. "Not yet sir... " she answers quietly.

This is it; she can't avoid it now; she'll just have to accept what she knows is coming. Within a flash, he's on his feet and his fist connected with Dani's left cheek, forcing her to the floor before he grabs a fist full of her hair, leaning down beside her ear.

"You may be my flesh and blood, but all you do is bring me and this pack shame and embarrassment. You are no longer my daughter, I lost her on her tenth birthday" he spits with so much hatred in his eyes that it brings tears to hers before he lets go of her and gives her a hard blow to the stomach, pushing her to the wall. She coughs so hard it feels like she is suffocating. After a few minutes it calms down, and she can breathe again.

Dani's Shack

Later that night...

Dani lies on her old, tarnished mattress, distressed and in tears. She has no bed, no desk, no drawers, only a small wardrobe for her uniform, as her father doesn't feel she was worthy of any basic 'privileges'. Dani feels helpless and lost, as she reminisces about her mother and brother, all those years ago...

Dani's father, Reece, turned cold, hateful, and murderous to ignore his pain and grief, instead of confronting it. Dani is turning sixteen in a week, and she is fearful of that night. Her father and his friends (the pack hierarchy) violated her the previous year. They played a 'game' they called 'pass the whore' because they no longer saw her as a 'little girl.'

They made it sound like a gift of some sort for which she should be grateful, but Dani was anything but grateful for such a traumatic experience. The memories of that night were burned in her mind and still plagued her sleep with horrific nightmares.

No one knows of this, for now.

Reece's daughter still loves him, the old him. The caring, kind, brave, responsible Reece that everyone once loved and pledged their loyalty to, but this version of him-she despises.

For almost six years to this day, the Alpha of the pack has abused and tortured her in every way possible. Dani cried herself to sleep that night, wishing her mother was still alive and well. She wished that her mother was still there to protect her like she always had growing up.

All this time, Dani has spent it alone, abused, and abandoned by her own kind, the idea of escaping had seemed like a dream she constantly fought to chase. The thoughts captured her mind every waking hour of every day. She had made two attempts to escape, one when she was eleven and again when she was thirteen but was caught both times and tortured for hours.

These failed attempts didn't faze her though or dampen her spirit, because she has learned a lot since then and has a real plan this time. As of next week, Dani plans to become a rogue, before she succumbs to the same treatment as the year before. She wants to escape this place that haunts her, find safety, and live a happy life, free from her father.

Every Friday night, when Alpha Reece hosts pack meetings stocked with tons of alcohol, Dani uses the opportunity of the distraction to steal cash from her father's wallet. She would proceed to stash the cash away in a shoebox under a loose floorboard in her bedroom.

She would try to conserve energy for training and began to work out intensely to build strength before her jobs every morning. Dani had some basic fitness and knowledge from her childhood that she built on when locked up in the packhouse attic.

She had started to build muscle over time, with a lot of patience and determination, knowing she would need all the strength she could generate for her escape alone, never mind what would come afterwards. She had a small but strong waist and quite bulky arms now. For this escape to be successful, she would have to put faith in her wolf.
