Chapter 25 - Ditch
Today is a new day. My mind seems to be cleared of everything and it feels like it’s been reborn again. Nothing but happiness clouds my thoughts, dreaming about yesterday’s events. I can still taste his lips wrapped around mine, I can still feel the way our bodies came together and I still feel the heat building up around me when we got passionate. This memory will last forever.
Yesterday after I had kissed Christian, we sat there in silence for a good minute before edging back and standing up. No words were spoken between us, but nothing was meant to be said. After we had packed up, we headed off into our own dorms and I found Tibby sitting on her bed. I hadn’t mentioned what had happened; I didn't think she deserved to know since she’s been hiding a hell of a lot of secrets from me. She’s just going to have to find out the hard way like how I found out about her secrets the hard way.
I still picture Christian and I sitting in that aisle, leaning on the book shelves behind us. Christian’s words had me going in circles, wanting to replay every word that came out of his mouth. I wish I could’ve said everything back to him, but we were too stunned to even look at each other. Smiles were all that we could manage, being plastered on each of our faces, always trying to avoid eye contact, but always trying to catch each other. But right now, those eyes stare at me back from my left, making me mentally swoon in my seat.
“Okay class, settle down.” Mrs. Barnett’s cheerful voice interrupts me, making me look away from Christian and avert my eyes up to the front. I’m in no mood for maths class on a Wednesday morning, seeing as how distracted I am with the boy I kissed sitting right next to me. Latecomers arrive, quietening down as they scurry through the aisles and take empty seats. Celine and Tiffany are amongst them, looking identical in their cheerleading uniforms. That makes three of us. I wear my usual cheerleading uniform and wear it with pride. I’ve started to like the whole concept of cheerleading itself, but there are times when I hate it and wish I hadn’t signed up for it.
Celine notices me and waves to me with a friendly smile on her face. Tiffany does the same and I reciprocate their actions. Celine sits down on the table next to mine, and Tiffany takes one next to Celine. By this time, the whole class has settled and our full attention is now on Mrs. Barnett.
“As you all know, the maths decathlon is coming up in a few weeks time and I’m happy to announce that two of your classmates will be representing the college.” Mrs. Barnett points in my direction, rising her tone. All heads turn our way and I immediately go red from the attention that is now on Christian and I. “Please give Christian and Aimee a round of applause for their dedication to this college!”
Applause is heard around me, making me feel special. Christian holds the same expression I wear; happy, proud and a little intimidated. Even Celine and Tiffany join in on the applause, but Celine displays a mysterious look on her face, showing that she has come up with a plan. This is just a theory, going by her facial expression, seeing as how used to it I’ve become. Her expressions are very distinct, and I can easily tell what she’s up to in a flash.
The class settles once again, and Mrs. Barnett starts handing out worksheets. I get started straight away and I see Christian looking my way in the corner of my eye. I turn my head to him, being right about my guess. He winks at me, smirking with those beautiful lips I kissed yesterday. They were so perfect to feel, they fit perfectly with mine, it’s like we were made for each other. Oh, how I can’t wait to kiss them again.
I get back to my work and fly through the questions within twenty minutes. Lifting my head from my page, I see Celine and a few of her friends crowding around a piece of paper that she holds on her desk for everyone to see. Some people laugh, some people question things. They all speak in hushed murmurs, even looking my way every now and again. I feel curious to know what they’re looking at. It’s definitely not the maths worksheet, since it has diagrams all over it.
