Chapter 46 - Moves

[Aimee’s POV]

Being greeted by a warm, passionate kiss was the best way to meet with Christian. He is suddenly filled with passion and joy, and I can feel it within the texture of this kiss. All our love runs through us as the world around us materialises into something special. But then I remember that Mason is standing right beside me so I pull back slowly, licking my lips from that heated kiss. Christian’s eyes are bright and wide, happy to finally see me.

“You said you wanted to go?” Christian asks after a few heavy seconds of just staring at each other. I shake my head into reality and nod, removing my huge smile from my face, but still keeping a smirk. I turn to Mason where he looks slightly out of place with his hands laced together in front of his body and his heels rising up and down. Mason nods to me, beginning our goodbyes.

“Well, I’ll see you… soon.” I say, laughing as I think of the next time I’ll see him, seeing as we both go to the same college and in the same English class. He slightly chuckles too, looking down at the ground. He leaves Christian and I, leaving us all to ourselves in a corner of the food court. Christian looks me up and down with his small eyes of his, producing a smirk on his face that’s gained more colour than usual.

“I miss you.” Christian says, snaking his arm around my waist, leading me through the mall. I snuggle closer to him, looking down at our feet as we step in sync; left, right, left, right. I feel him kiss my head, making me bite my lip as I look back up and follow his lead into the car park where we reach his car. No conversations were held between us since the kiss, and Christian’s facial expression has turned normal again. He displays a hard look on his face with his eyebrows creased. Hmm, I wonder what he is thinking about…

Once he unlocks the car, we hop in, being confined in this little space only with Christian. We both buckle our seatbelts, brushing arms as we do so. Before Christian starts the car, he speaks up with a small voice. “So how was your outing with Mason?”

I look straight ahead, not wanting to meet with his jealous eyes. I nod my head, remembering my time with Mason. It went well and I enjoyed it. It was a little friends outing. I turn my head towards Christian, looking at his figure. Oh wow, how gorgeous he looks right now. His tensed arm rests on the top of the steering wheel, gripping it with his large hands. His other arm rests back on the drivers seat, leaning his body back a bit to reach the cushion. His eyebrows are crinkled and his jaw is defined so well. The temperature rises, making me forget about my outing with Mason.

“It was good,” is all I can say because Christian’s hotness is choking me. Well, not literally. I turn my head back around to the front, trying to hide my smile. I part my lips to stop it, but I speak up as well, trying to keep the flame of this conversation burning. “And how was your little outing by yourself?”

I felt cheeky just then, resting my head back on the headrest, biting the corner of my lip as I stare at Christian. His expression changes and I don’t understand. He doesn’t seem too happy right now; it’s like something is bothering him. The silence builds up as time passes, getting heavier by the second. I remove my smile and try to see his expression but can’t because he turns his head to the steering wheel, placing both hands on it. He sighs, raising many questions through my mind. “What’s up?”

He sighs again, keeps his eyes in his lap and opens his mouth. “I bumped into Elicia today.”

My heart stops. No wonder he was acting a little strange. He met up with his ex girlfriend that he used to love as much as me. That he used to hang out with before his father died. Before everything ruined him. I sank in my seat, feeling emotions of sadness — sad that Christian had to meet her and relive all those memories years ago. And I also kind of feel… jealous. Jealous that Elicia will want to speak with Christian again now that they’ve met up after five years without each other.
