CHANCE

It's been 5 months since you broke up with Shirakawa. It's been rough for you but you managed to move on bit by bit. Of course with the help of Narumiya and Carlos. They were there to support you through tough times.

You didn't know when it started but you developed feelings for the lead off man of Inashiro. Even if you try to deny it, your eyes will always follow him. When you notice you would facepalm and scold yourself. It hasn't been long since you got your heart broken yet your heart is beginning to beat for someone else.

The team noticed that you and Shirakawa are not in speaking terms anymore and that you'd spend time with Carlos and Narumiya more. It was hard avoiding him since you're one of the managers for the team. You wanted to quit but they disagreed.

"Should I confess to her?" Carlos asked Narumiya who's cooling down beside him. He answered with a shrug "it hasn't been long since her heart was broken but you can always tell her how you feel" the ace added. Carlos nodded and finished up cooling down.

Carlos jogged to you topless since he was full of sweat. Your back was facing him and you were to concentrating at the washing the bottles to notice him. Until he poked your side and that made you jump. "Gosh you scared me!" You shrieked.

He just laughed it off. "(F/N) can I talk to you after you finish your tasks?" You looked at him confused but nodded until your eyes trailed down his body. Your cheeks began to redden. "What the hell!! Put on some clothes Carlos!!" You shouted at him while covering your eyes.

"Oh (F/N) don't be shy. I know you love seeing me topless" he teased you trying to rip your hands that were covering your eyes. You look like a ripe tomato. "Stop!!! Enough already!" You shouted again which caught the attention of the team.

Shirakawa was jealous at the sight of you and Carlos together. It was supposed to be him in Carlos' place. He regretted what he did but it's over. He would look at you longingly sometimes.

Narumiya saw this and clicked his tongue. "I told you you'll regret it someday." He looked at Narumiya and looked back at you. "You're right I'm regretting it big time but it's too late"

Narumiya looked irritated and was about to say something when the coach called him over to discuss something.

*Time skip after you finished your tasks*

Carlos was waiting for you at the vending machine near the field. As you saw him, you ran to him and called out to him. When he saw you, he smiled and waved. Shit. My heart is beating faster again. Is it because I'm running? Man! His smile is totally captivating.

When you arrived, you asked him what he wanted to say. At first he was hesitant until you told him to just spit it out. He nodded and grabbed your hands which confused you. What he said next made your eyes widened and your heart pound.

"I like you! I've always liked you since our first year. Will you give me a chance to prove to you that not all men are the same?" He looked at you in the eyes and squeezed your hands. You were in a daze. What did he just say? What? Like? Who? Me? What the hell! He feels the same way? Maybe? A chance? Should I? But I'm scared.

You looked at him and you can see he is sincere. "I'm scared Carlos. If I give you a chance and it would end up badly, I'll lose you too and I-I just... can't" tears began to form in your eyes. He sighed and hugged you. " Don't cry. I'm not pressuring you if you don't want to. I just wanted you to know how I feel. No matter what's your decision I will respect it." He rubbed your back.

What should I do? I like him too but I'm scared. I want to take the risk tho. Oh screw it! You hugged him back tightly. "I like you too Carlos but I'm scared to trust again." You whispered and you were shocked when he pulled away from you.

"I'm willing to do everything to make you trust me. So let's just take it slow. Ok (F/N)?" You smiled and nodded. "So it means were dating right?" He asked while you giggled and nodded.

He picked you up and spined you around. You were squealing and laughing. He then put you back down and kissed your forehead. "I promise you'll never regret giving me a chance (F/N). Iloveyou."
