After I punched Tom last week, I've been avoiding Chloe. I need to keep my distance because I have seen my father around school lately and if he sees me with her, he will hurt her. I'm dreading today, because today is gameday for the football players, which means Chloe will be here today. I know the game itself will be amazing and with Finn as quarterback, they will definitely win, but the half time is making me nervous. The Glee club is going to perform and I helped them to put two songs together. I basically thought of everything; the make-up, the songs and the dance, so if no one likes the performance it will be my fault.
The day at school went normally and now everybody is on its way to the bleachers. With everybody, I literally mean everybody because not only High school students need to watch the game but the University students have to be here too. I feel uneasy about seeing Chloe, but I can't stay away and let my fellow Glee club members down. I met with my friends and we joined the rest of the glee club on the bleachers. We sit on the front so it's easier to leave before half time to get ready for the performance. The team comes on the field and everyone cheers. I watch the game closely, both teams are really good. Marley watches Finn play with love in her eyes. I'm so happy that they're together.
I look through the crowd for a second but don't see her. I really miss her. I haven't talked to her since I left her at the party, so basically I haven't talked to her for eleven weeks. When I was at my grandma's, I talked about her a lot. I haven't told many people about Chloe so that my grandma knows, says a lot.
I look back to the game and everybody can hear Finn yell: ,,Break!" Puck runs over the field, just passing the sideline, while Finn avoids some tackles. When Puck is on the right spot, Finn throws the ball through the air towards Puck and he runs further to the end zone. Even though he gets tackled, he manages to end up in the end zone with the ball. The crowd rises and cheers. The referee blows for half time and we quickly sprint down to the dressing room to put on the make up. It doesn't take long to get ready, we run up to the field and get into position. The music starts and the glee club starts singing.
They are amazing and the crowd loves it too! I can see some of them even copying the moves from Thriller. "Thriller" from Michael Jackson and "Heads will roll" from Yeah, yeah, yeahs. I always liked the combination of those two and I'm happy the glee club let me make those mashups.
I find myself searching the crowd, looking for those eyes I love so much. I find them not too far away from our seats. Chloe is standing with Aubrey, smiling, dancing, and singing along. Her eyes catch mine and I lose my breath for a moment. The song ends and we quickly grab something to drink before finding our seats again and the second half begins. Finn seems to score two times, but they're still one touchdown behind and the timer almost runs out. One touchdown and they win. The whistle is blown and this time it isn't Puck who runs off but Finn and the other team buy it. Puck, standing as the quarterback, receives the ball from Matt, while Finn is running down the field making him the wide receiver. Just as Finn is almost at the end zone, Puck throws the ball towards him with absolute poise. The crowd falls silent and is on the edge of their seats, following the ball fly through the air. Finn runs backward slightly, catching the ball with a grin. He carries the ball into the end zone as the final whistle blows. Slamming the ball onto the ground, he cheers as the rest of the team sprints onto the field towards Finn. The crowd celebrates the win and shouts Finn's name. Within seconds he is lifted by Puck and Matt onto their shoulders.
I look over to Quinn and Rachel hugging each other. They're so in love. I'm happy for them but at the same time, I can't help but feel a little jealous. Not of my friends in general, but of the freedom they have. Marley and Quinn are able to be with the ones they love without having to worry about them getting hurt. I wish I could be that free and let Chloe know how I feel about her, without being worried that my father will hurt her. I give Finn a hug and bid my friends good night, promising to see them tomorrow. I just don't want to be here anymore. I wave goodbye one more time before heading home.
