Hey peeps! Sorry for the late update. It's been forever since I've been on a posting schedule so you could technically say that every update is "late," but here we are.

An important chapter here! Hope you enjoy it!

School for me starts on the 9th of January, so I hope I can get a couple more chapters in before school starts.

Thanks for reading! I read all your comments, so thank you to everyone who has been commenting. Have a great day everyone and a happy new year!

Other than the legend of Zelda characters, plot and characters belong to me! The word count for this chapter is 1479 words.

Please enjoy!

-West

Zelda opened the door to see Link dressed in his usual blue garb. A sword was sheathed and hanging from his belt, his brown boots went up to his calf.

In short, Link was a stunning as ever. Not only impressive with the sword, but with etiquette. He followed the uniform rules to the letter and she hadn't known him to be late yet.

"Your Highness," he said as he dropped to a knee, "I am here to accompany you for the day."

"You don't have to be so formal," Zelda said, embarrassed that Malon and Saria's first impression of him was this dramatic worship. Perhaps she only had herself to blame; her scolding of him the day before could have induced this behavior. "I don't believe you've met my ladies-in-waiting. Go on, you can stand. This is Malon, and this is Saria."

Link stood, and the two met his eyes one at a time, each refusing to smile. The two of them disapproved of him, but at the end of the day it wasn't his fault. He wanted to leave Hyrule for his own personal reasons--what could they blame him for?

"Nice to meet you," Link said as he politely nodded to them both, also unsmiling. What was with the world today? Did the whole world have a bad mood?

"Let us head to breakfast," Zelda prompted as she stepped through her massive doorway. She turned to her friends as she took Link's arm. "Will you two be joining us?"

Saria and Malon glanced at each other briefly. "We'll see you there."

They shut the door behind them and they began their way to the dining hall.

"How has your morning been your highness?" Link asked with a sour tone. They were alone save for a few castle servants that scuttled past once in a while to attend to their duties.

"It was delightful," Zelda replied, suppressing a sigh she almost let out. She probably had been too harsh with him the day before. In the moment it had seemed necessary, but now he seemed to be holding a grudge against her. Quite childish, she decided. "I awoke early, had a bath, and I had time to converse with my ladies-in-waiting."

"Glad to hear it," Link said stiffly.

"And your morning? How was it Link?"

"I was able to put in some private training before arriving here," Link said with a glance over his shoulder, "I enjoyed it."

Zelda looked over her shoulder as well, "is everything alright?"

Link sighed, "it's fine...everything's fine."

Everything was obviously not fine, in other words. He was nervous about something...someone finding him perhaps? Perhaps this nervousness was contributing to his mood.

They arrived at the dining hall with little conversation and Zelda guided them to one of the large circular tables. Servants promptly brought an assortment of breakfast foods to their table, even asking Link if there was anything he would want to request. He didn't, of course.
