"Hey Craig?" I turned my head slightly towards the woman standing in the doorway. Her hair slightly covered her face on one side and she looked more like a student than a teacher. Her face showed a healthy glow and youthful figure. She flashed me a kind smile and thanked me for helping her clean up the classroom. I could be considered a teacher's pet in other kid's eyes but the truth is she's my mother's friend. I don't mind helping her at all but my mother would kill me if I didn't. "Sorry for keeping you so late your mother must be worried." I set down a dirty rag on the table next to me and waved her off.

"I texted her before we started and told her I was helping you Ms. Myers. Since you left your phone at your house I figured it would be good to tell her that as well." I stared down at my dirtied hands and wiped them at my pants. "But I really should be going."

"Yes, you should. But before you do, I have another large favor to ask." She walked behind her desk and stared pulling out old books and papers. The paint brushes on her desk fell over but she just ignored the new mess. "The principle informed me that we have a transfer kid coming in tomorrow and wanted me to find someone suitable to guide him around and show him the ropes. He'll be in this classroom so..."

"You want me to help him out?" I asked. "Sure, I wouldn't mind as long as we aren't talking total drug addict here." She laughed slightly and continued with her work, throwing pencils on her desk and opening random drawers.

"I don't know much about him other than Autumn's his aunt." My eyebrows perked up in surprise.

"Mrs. Autumn doesn't even talk about her husband why would she open up about a nephew?" I questioned walking over to her desk. She shrugged lightly.

"I don't know. She's been acting weird for the last couple of days. She didn't even show up to the Patterpark's party yesterday. Maybe his arrival is special to her." She let out a long sigh after looking at the mess she had made on her table. I chuckled.

"What? You didn't notice the papers and books you were throwing everywhere?" I leaned on the side of her desk and adjusted a small paper.

"Listen, I can create an entire pit of hell looking for a paper clip and not notice. I'm pretty sure one day this classroom will catch fire in my reign." She started to re stack folders and place them neatly into her drawer. "I'm a mess. Just ask your mom." I gave a small chuckled and walked over to the door.

"So, how will I recognize the new guy?"

"Autumn was told to tell him to go to the large tree out front and wait. Now that we have you we can give him your name and tell him to wait for you." She tapped her fingers on the desk in front of her and wrinkled her nose. "I sure hope he isn't trouble." I opened the door.

"I have a feeling he'll be a good guy." I answered before walking out and closing the door behind me. I stretched my back out and went to a nearby water fountain. I took a large swig before wiping my mouth clean on my sleeve. I pulled out my phone and shot a quick text to Ryan. Asking him if he was going to come over for the night and if his mom was home. When I didn't get the an immediate reply I knew something was wrong.

Ryan never leaves his phone unattended. It's always on vibrate and in his pocket.

"Shit." I cursed, running out the front door of the school down to my house. I lived about a neighborhood down from Ryan, which in this town isn't that far. I knew I could run there without any issues so I just kept going. I don't know what it was about today but something was off. I have very good reasons to be worried.

As I approached his house, I saw his mom's car parked in the driveway. Maybe she's the issue again. I sent another text to Ryan telling him I was outside and coming in.
