Luke didn't say a word as he dragged me outside to the back of his house where the pool was. He kept my hand in his as he led me to a nearby tree. His demeanor was strangely calm for once. He was...relieved about something, but still there was this tense aura that followed him. I could tell he was fully locked onto me and what I was going to say or do.

Whatever happened, he was prepared for the consequences.

"Now this is going to sound weird, but I feel like it would make me more comfortable if you did this." His eyes kept a kind and understanding gaze that melted through my body. I felt unsure, but glad to be there. If Luke kept this from me there must have been a reason. But there's something that he doesn't know either...

Whatever happens, I'm going to be there. Right by his side.

"I need you to pick out a leaf. Any leaf it doesn't matter which." Luke said quietly. I didn't question, just slowly walked over to Luke and picked up a large orange leaf that had coincidentally landed on the end of his foot. I lifted myself back up and pressed the leaf to his chest. His hand traveled up my arm and slowly took the leaf from me. "This one?" I nodded my head. He took a deep breath and held the leaf by its stem.

His hand was shaking ever so slightly enough to make the leaf move. I paused him and put my hands over his. I looked up at him and smiled. He let out a deep breath and smiled back. I felt my hands get weirdly warm, so I took them off. That's when something happened.

"This is what I wanted to show you."

Now this might sound crazy...no...this is going to sound like I am delusional. But from his hands a small light was emitted that took to the leaf. Smoke rose from the leaf as this sudden burst of flame burnt it in an instant. Luke opened his hand to show a few stray pieces of leaf that had not fully burned. He moved them to the center of his palm. The same light flowed from his hand until his entire palm was engulfed in bright flames.

The leaf had been disintegrated, but the fire still danced across his palm. He brought up his other hand and it also shared the blaze.

I blinked in a confused manor at his hands. Luke didn't look as though he was in pain. I reached forward with my hand and quickly stuck it in the flame.

"Ryan!" I winced as the heat burned into my fingers. Luke shook his hands off and the flame disappeared. I held my wrist and let out a tiny gasp. "Why would you do that?" He kept shaking his hands and dunked them into the pool. As soon as they touched the water a loud sizzle filled the air. He lifted his hands to his shirt and wiped them off before rushing over to me and inspecting my hand. "Ryan that was most possibly the stupidest reaction you could've had." His now cold fingers traced over my red fingers.

I could tell he was pissed at me but to be honest I just wanted to know if it was real.

That shit...that was diffidently real.

Luke picked me up effortlessly and took me inside. He set me down on the couch and told me to sit still. I watched him run around the house talking to himself as he grabbed a towel and ran it under cold tap water.

"You could have seriously injured yourself Ryan! You could have lost a finger or worse. The heat from my hands is hotter than a campfire and a torch!" He rung out the towel and sat down next to me on the couch, wrapping my fingers in the towel and pressing lightly. I flinched and he apologized. "I just don't know why you would even think about doing that. Who puts their hands in fire..." Luke kept going saying many things and apologizing. He didn't stop for several minutes.

"I mean I thought Tyler was crazy for thinking I should tell you but when I thought about it, telling you was important. I mean I never wanted to keep any secrets from you..."

His voice filled the room.

"I thought about which I should show you so I chose fire because that might be the most unbelievable thing besides object teleportation..."

Nothing he was saying stuck with me. It all didn't make sense I needed him to slow down!

"But once Tyler said he was leaving, it made me realize that I wouldn't be here for forever so..."

Luke. Calm down.

"Then Mom came over and pushed me but I was already planning on telling you."

Luke.

"I thought maybe you would hate me or think I was scary. I didn't want to put you in danger..." I stood up and opened my mouth.

"L-Lu..." The noise that was coming from my mouth was crackly and strained. It was higher pitched than I remembered it being. The vibrations from my throat were hard to keep going but I kept at it. "Lu-Luk." I kept my eyes on the ground as I tried my best to say his name.

Jesus it sounds like I'm a newborn saying mom for the first time.

"Luke!" I whimpered out in frustration. I tilted my head up to see his face. Luke was frozen, his eyes wide and his hands folded together. I started again while I had the courage. "I-I want-wanted to..." I took a deep breath. "See if-if I-it was re-real." I whispered. Luke stood up and wrapped his arms around me, careful not to press into my fingers.

"Do you think I'm smart enough to fake something like that?" I giggled lightly. He leaned down and pressed his forehead into mine. "Don't you think I'm a weirdo? Don't you want to leave?" I pressed my other fingers to his lips. He stopped talking.

"I-I ha-have ques-estions. Bu-but I would ne-nev-er lea-leave you." I stuttered out as quickly as I could go. Luke smiled.

"Hey Ryan?"

"Mhm?" He leaned forward and gave me a sweet kiss. His hand pushed away a few pieces of my hair while the other supported my back as he leaned further into me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and relaxed. Once we parted, he whispered quietly into my ear.

"I love you." I took a deep breath and hid my blush with the towel.

"I lo-love y-you t-too Lu-Luke." While my words were strung together messily and my voice sounded awful, Luke couldn't have looked happier. In fact, he caught me off guard as he pulled me into him for another kiss. I blinked wildly before he pushed us back up and let go carefully.

"You said you have questions? I have all night." He sat down on the couch and patted the spot next to him. "You shouldn't strain your voice so take it easy Ry." I sat down and laid my head on him, prepared now for a long, long talk.

But I didn't care. As long as I was here with Luke and Luke was here with me everything would be fine.

---

Gonna be honest but over the last few weeks I got some small bruises and things on my wrist and hand. It's only my right hand but it makes things difficult when writing on a computer especially when I'm as far behind on this book as I am. This took me about three hours with no break and my hand is killing me. (I planned, wrote, and edited today)

However I will not be putting the book on hiatus or anything like that. I've been saying that my schedule for it is screwed anyways but all I can do is ask you to be patient with me now.

I didn't exactly plan for this, I should have, but things could be pushed back way further now than before.

I've gotta stop writing now but thank you for understanding! Don't worry about me it is really nothing and should be fully healed soon! I felt it was necessary to explain myself.
