My hands were in my pockets, twisting some of the soft inside materials around in them. I was fidgety.
Nervous.
I thought I was being smart by taking a long and weird route to the hospital. All I did was walk in the opposite direction for a bit, then turned around to the direct route behind me.
It was pretty easy to follow but at this point I wasn't worried about Craig sneaking around behind me. Before I thought it might be a possibility, but I know he doesn't possess the skills to stay hidden from me for that long.
"Hospital is up ahead." I muttered to myself, yanking my hands out of my pockets and popping my knuckles. "Ben should be down in the morgue by now. I'll head down there, get the soul, and get the hell out." My head tilted up towards the white building.
I could just teleport to the morgue...but there is a few people standing around outside. I might as well just go in and ask for the bathroom then teleport from there. It's an extra step but I guess it is worth it.
I fixed my hair and adjusted my shirt to look more like I was running on only a few hours of sleep. I lowered my eyelids and slouched slightly. Once my idea of blending in with the hospital visitors was perfected I headed inside to the front desk.
"Hello sir, how may I help you?" A man asked from his chair. His eyes were down at the computer but I could tell he was still addressing me. I yawned and leaned into the counter.
"Do you guys have a bathroom around here?" The employee simply pointed towards a hallway and went back down to his computer. I nodded and walked that way. "Real friendly around here huh?" I grumbled.
I checked around the hallway thoroughly before entering a bathroom. Nobody was inside. I stepped forward away from the door and closed my eyes. The morgue was most likely in the basement of the hospital so it's my best bet to get down there. Teleporting to floors underground always makes me nervous. I could accidently teleport into a hole below the ground or some secret tunnel and suffocate.
I had to maintain concentration.
I focused all my energy into feeling and trusting my power. Once I found the space, I was looking for I balled my hands into fists and...
"Tyler!" I heard a call from outside the restroom. I blinked and opened the door. Craig stood there, heavily breathing and wiping sweat from his cheek. His hair was disheveled, and his shoulder was hanging out from his oversized shirt.
"What are you doing here Mini?" I sighed and crossed my arms. He lifted himself up and grabbed me by my shirt, yanking me down to his level.
"You expect me to just sit back and relax when you left me saying all that weird shit?"
"It wasn't weird shit." I scoffed.
"Really? Cause I'm sure you would be weirded out if someone told you that they couldn't see you tomorrow and said bye so formally." He tightened his grip on my shirt and pulled me closer till our faces were mere inches apart. "Tyler that's just not something you would say."
"But I did though."
"Tyler this isn't funny." He let go of my shirt and slowly stepped backwards. "I'm worried about you." I heard his voice crack softly. "I don't want to lose you too." I widened my eyes as tears began to fall down his pale skin. "I'm sorry I don't know why I'm so emotional today. Normally I could keep a good hold on myself." I slowly walked forward to Mini. His head was down, and he was wiping furiously at tears. "I'm scared Tyler." He whispered. "Things have been off with my mom, with this town, with Ryan, and now with you!" He covered his eyes. "I'm losing everything Tyler! Even myself!" He shouted.
