Yeah That's Him (9)

Why am I not surprised? Tall, handsome, dark haired, brown eyed dream boat. That's who Ryan had to fall in love with. Although I can't say I'm surprised. Ryan has his types. He might not be willing to admit it but he definitely does. That boy hits all the marks.

People were SWARMING him. Okay, not just anyone, girls were. Like every single one we had at school was underneath the large tree swooning for the guy. You could hear most of them making small talk or asking for his number. Ryan, who was standing next to me wearing a dark red bandana huffed quietly.

"I told you. But now seeing him is even worse. Can you really blame the girls?" I smiled. Ryan kept his eyes on Luke, not responding. "Earth to lovesick Ryan!" I waved my hand in front of his head. Ryan swatted my hand away and started sulking. "I've never seen jealous Ryan before..." I smirked looking back at him to see an irritated twitch in his eyebrows. I rolled my eyes and dragged him behind me.

Wait. I almost forgot...

That dude is cluelessly standing underneath the large tree.

Don't tell me that's the kid! There's no way!

"Uh Ryan?" He looked up at me slowly. "Did you say this was his first time at school here?" Ryan nodded his head and locked his eyes downwards. My brain immediately went into freak out mode.

PANIC. ABORT. ANYONE BUT THE GUY WITH A SWARM OF FEMALES!

I sighed and turned to Ryan, attempting to keep any kind of cool I had left in me.

"I think he's the guy I am supposed to be showing around school today. He's in our class. Luke right?" I said quietly. Ryan threw his head upwards at me with his eyes wide open. I could practically read his face and put it into words. He thinks I'm joking. "No, I'm not joking. The principle wanted me to show around Mrs. Autumn's nephew. That literally has to be him." I gestured towards the crowd. "He's in the exact spot and is a new student!" Ryan stopped walking and stood still. "What are you doing? We need to fight our way through that crowd and get to him. At least so I can show him around!" Ryan stared directly behind my body and slowly lifted his finger to point past me. I gave him a confused look before I turned to see Luke running at us with a smile on his face. Ryan took a step back but stopped when he slowed his pace. Luke approached him easily and left the group of girls behind. I crossed my arms and watched with an amused look on my face.

In a fraction of a second Ryan forgot I was standing next to him and had all his focus on the boy in front of him. I side stepped away a bit, but not far enough that I couldn't hear the conversation.

"Hey Ryan!" Luke said happily. I saw the group that once surrounded him disperse. A few stragglers tried to walk back over to him. I tried my best to keep them away, saying things like, "He's new" and "Give the man some space!" They left but I knew it wouldn't last long. I walked over to Ryan and Luke just in time to catch the rest of their conversation.

"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable last night with my texts, but I found your bandana and I was wondering if you would forgive me." He pulled a grey bandana out of his pocket and handed it to Ryan carefully with a grin. "I washed it too! It should smell better." Ryan stared down at it with an unseen smile. I could tell it was there from years of memorizing Ryan's body language. He was unguarded around Luke, completely open. That was something I had never seen before. His shoulders were relaxed and he wasn't staring at the ground, but up at Luke. I smirked but knew that this moment couldn't last. More people were starting to walk over so I grabbed the two of them.

"He says thank you and he also says we should go inside before the group of hormonal girls come back. Right Ryan?" I looked at him and he nodded his head before slipping the bandana into his pocket. Luke turned and tilted his head. I had to look upwards to speak to his face. He's fucking huge. Where the hell did he come from? "I'm Craig Thompson." I put out my hand. His face turned from confused to happy as he stuck out his hand sweetly.

"Nice to meet you I'm..."

"Luke." I finished for him. We locked hands and gave a friendly shake. "I know, Ryan wouldn't shut up about you." He flicked his head to Ryan as a huge red blush spread over his face. I winked at Ryan and he lightly hit me in my arm. Luke laughed and released my hand.

"You two are friends?" He asked.

"Yeah, he's been stuck with me for a few years now." I chuckled, ruffling his hair. Luke's smile fainted a little before perking up again.

"That's great! So you're the guy my mother told me about."

"Yeah, I'm going to help you out at school. Lucky for us the bell doesn't ring for another thirty minutes so we have time to go to your locker and help you figure that out first." I pulled out my phone and checked my messages. Mom had sent me all the information from the principle. His locker number was 667 and she also sent the combination. Lucky for the school I would never use that information...

Seriously what if I was a horrible person would they just give that out?

"Oh really? Neat let's go!" He exclaimed. I rolled my eyes. His personality is definitely an eye catcher. Especially for the still blushing boy beside me. I elbowed him and pushed him forward slightly as we walked. He bumped into Luke and stopped walking. Luke turned and seemed to examine him thoroughly.

"Are you okay?" Ryan forced his head down and nodded slowly.

He's guarding himself again. I watched his chest move back into a slouch and his arms sagged in his pockets.

Luke gave him a concerned look. "You're acting weird." So he can see it too. I thought they just met?

Then something amazing happened. Luke reached down and pulled at Ryan's arm. I watched as Ryan gazed up at him with confusion. Luke continued to pull lightly at his arm and eventually Ryan pulled his hand out of his pocket. Luke grasped his hand and kept walking to the school. Ryan's steps slowed slightly though I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that noticed.

I'm also the only one that noticed a light pink grazing both of their cheeks.

Craig meets Luke! I think they'll get along just fine.

(For anyone that is LGBTQ+ or an ally on June 3rd at 3pm there is an event if that's what you want to call it. You sit out on your front porch, back porch, anything really I don't think it matters, and mourn for losses in the LGBTQ+ community. You could stay out there for hours, or maybe just a minute. But it's for the cause. Please take part in this if you can. Take a minute out of your day to thank the people who laid down their lives for us and for those who are struggling right now. That's about all I know about it but if you can please do so! It means more than you know!!! Thanks)
