The entire class I was lost. My mind wandered past the lesson and straight to Luke. I kept shooting looks at Craig, but he refused to gaze in my direction. My fingers tapped rapidly down on my desk. Nervously tracing small drawings I had made in the wood. I was quiet enough that nobody seemed to notice my discomfort in class. I couldn't focus at all.

I'm screwed for the rest of the day if this keeps up...

"The bell will ring in ten minutes and I'll give you time to work on your homework now. If you have questions ask me or a neighbor. However I cannot guarantee that your neighbor knows the right answer." Ms. Myers released the class and it immediately became lively. Everyone had something to say to someone else. My fingers stopped tapping and I scooched my chair over to Craig's desk. My fist landed lightly next to his pencil and I stared directly at him. He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed.

"Okay I'll tell you." I took a deep breath and sat back, awaiting the news I had needed so badly to calm my nerves. Craig took a deep breath and leaned on his elbows. "Okay, so after you got away from the group of assholes, Luke stopped in the center of them and said something I couldn't hear. When I turned around one guy had stepped up to him and made another remark. You'll have to as Luke what he said but it must have been horrible because before I could pull him away and tell him it wasn't worth it, he nailed the dude in the side of the head." My eyes went wide as I sat up quickly. "He was pissed Ryan. I'm not joking the dude was out like a light after that. He wasn't bleeding but he is definitely going to have a huge bruise. I ran over to try and get him out of there but missed something that one of the guys said. Luke stared him in the eyes and said three words." I moved forward off the back of my chair. "Luke said, I dare you. That was it. Then some teacher dragged him to the principal's office." I wrinkled my brows.

What was he thinking? His first day here and he's getting into a fight?

"Hopefully he's back for the next class." Craig pressed a pen to his lips and tapped. "You have to ask him what the guy said." I nodded.

Oh, I sure as hell am. I can't believe him! What in the hell set him off?

The bell rang loud above our heads. Everyone bolted out of the classroom, leaving their items and backpacks behind. Ms. Myers left as well, leaving just me and Craig sitting in the corner. I threw myself upwards and grabbed his shirt. I yanked him out of the classroom and down the hall.

"Ryan? Where are we going?" Craig asked. I kept my head forward, speed walking down the hall. Our class was rather close to the main office where the principle was located. Craig seemed to notice where we were headed and fought against me. "We don't even know when he's going to come out! We can't wait here all period I have to pee!" I stopped and glared at him. "Listen I know you want answers, but we never know when he's going to..." Craig stopped. His gaze stared past me as I heard a familiar voice speak up.

"Oh, hey guys!" I froze. Craig had his mouth wide open but closed it as I heard footsteps from behind approach.

"Speak of the devil." He muttered and turned his back to me. "I'm going to go pee. See you guys in class." I nodded and he walked away rather quickly. 

A hand brushed my shoulder and rotated me around. I looked upwards to see Luke smiling down at me. He looked as if nothing had happened. Like he didn't just walk out of the principle's office. His hand stayed on my shoulder with a friendly grip. I lifted my hand to place it on top of his with a light blush. 

At least this hasn't put a cloud over his smile.

Luke smirked and pulled out his phone, lifting our hands away from each other. I grabbed mine as well and checked the clock. Five minutes before the next period.
