Silver and I walked through the final part of Route 31 just as we got about halfway through the day. Nothing of interest happened after I caught Elekid, a few trainers challenged us to. battles and we quickly reached the entrance to Violet City.

We stepped into the unfamiliar city and walked along the stone path. A Pokémon Center stood at the building's entrance but the roof was maroon instead of the bright red I was used to seeing.

A few wooden houses were built along the path that led through the city. Trees surrounded the entire area and a large tower stood high above any trees of other landmarks in the area.

"Sprout Tower," I said under my breath.

Silver looked around at the city. The buildings all seemed to be made with purple roofs and the bridges that led to the tower had a purple hue to them.

A few people were out shopping but it seemed largely inactive. "Well, I guess we should take on the gym." Silver said.

"Mhm! Doesn't seem like there's too much to do here. Unless you want to go to Sprout Tower?" I proposed.

Silver shook his head. "No way! They use Bellsprout there! What are we supposed to do about those?"

We walked into the Pokémon Center together. "Yeah, you're probably right," I agreed. We went up to the counter and handed the Nurse Joy behind the desk our Poké Balls.

She took them and placed them onto a machine for a few seconds before handing them back to us.

We returned the spheres to our belts. "You can take on the gym first, I want to see what Pokémon he's using anyway. And you have an advantage." Silver added.

I tried to remember what type the Violet City Gym Leader used. "Oh, right! Because I have Elekid and he uses Flying Types!"

"Isn't that why you caught him?" Silver asked.

I shrugged as we exited the building. "Nah, I just wanted to catch him because he seemed strong."

We reached the intersection of the road and as we were about to walk to the gym we saw a familiar person leaving the tower.

Blue walked across the two bridges and we stopped to wait for him when we noticed him.

He seemed to notice us and his neutral expression shifted slightly into a grin. "Oh, heya kids! Making progress I see." He said as he approached us.

We nodded in unison. "And we're going to take on the gym right now!" I told him.

"I remember my time taking on the Johto Gyms. Those were the days..." Blue looked off. "Anyway, I'm free now. So hows about I watch your battles?" He suggested.

I felt my heart skip a beat. "Really? That would be so awesome!" Silver said.

Blue began to laugh. "Kids, I'm not some kind of celebrity. I'm just a trainer like you."

I wasn't entirely sure of what to say. A wave of awkwardness fell over the conversation until a new voice broke the tension. "Blue, is that you?"

We looked to see a man in a lab coat running up to us. He was shorter than Blue and had long brown hair with a bit of stubble on his chin.
