Upon returning to Mahogany Town, Silver and I immediately went to the local Pokémon Center to get as much sleep as possible.

Despite the fact that it was only midday we spent most of the day and night catching up on lost sleep.

When we got up bright and early the next morning I felt completely refreshed and relieved to be back on a normal sleeping schedule.

The two of us left the Pokémon Center and made our way to the gym next door. Silver came to a stop before entering and sent out Vulpix. "I almost forgot! I bought something at the festival that I wanted to use for this gym." He explained to me while producing a red stone.

Silver touched the stone to Vulpix's head and it began to transform. When Vulpix finished changing it was now a much larger Pokémon with fire yellow fur and nine flowing tails.

Silver returned Ninetales and we proceeded into the gym.  From what I recalled, the gym used Ice Type Pokémon. And upon entering I was reminded of that fact.

The gym's floor was coated with ice and snow lay piled up on parts of it. In the center of the battlefield, a body of water broke up the ice floor with small ice islands floating on it.

Despite how warmly I was dressed, I still felt incredibly cold standing in the icy gym. My breath was visible and I was noticeably shivering.

At the back of the room, the gym leader, Pryce, was sitting and drinking a cup of tea. The Gym's referee stood next to him, dressed very warmly.

Pryce was an elderly man with snow-white hair. A silk scarf was draped around his neck and he wore a blue overcoat. The Gym Leader grabbed for a cane sitting next to him and stood up.

"Welcome to my gym, challengers," Pryce said. "I see that the cold of my gym has already started to get to you." I suddenly felt self-conscious about my shivering. "No matter. I designed this gym to bring to you the harshness of life, in the form of the most unforgiving season.

"So, I challenge you to thaw yourselves out through battle. If you fail, you'll see how cold the ice can truly be." Pryce told us.

I stepped forward to my end of the field as the referee began their preamble. "This will be a three on three Pokémon battle. Both sides are allowed to substitute Pokémon. The battle will be over once either side has three Pokémon that can no longer battle. Let the match begin!"

Pryce threw out a Poké Ball with an unfamiliar pattern that released a bird Pokémon. The bird had red and white feathers and carried around a white sack at its side.

That's a Delibird, right? I thought to myself. Then I know just the Pokémon to use! I sent out Electabuzz. Upon seeing his opponent, a confident grin came to his face.

"Electabuzz, start us off strong with Thunderbolt!" Electabuzz fired a powerful blast of electricity at Delibird.

Pryce slammed his cane onto the ground and Delibird maneuvered around the electric attack. "Now use Ice Beam!" Delibird flew into the air above the water and sent a ray of ice at Electabuzz.

Electabuzz shielded his body with his arm but it was quickly encased in ice. "Electabuzz, Thunder Punch with both arms let's go!" Just as I hoped, Electabuzz's electric attack shattered the ice on his arm.

He leaped up and slammed his other fist into Delibird, knocking it down into the water. Pryce didn't seem concerned by this, however. "Delibird, Drill Peck!"

Delibird shot out of the water and rapidly pecked at Electabuzz while he was still in the air.

Delibird retreated after striking Electabuzz and suddenly began to convulse as electric energy coursed through him. Electabuzz's Static activated and paralyzed Delibird!
