After Silver left, he didn't answer a single one of my calls and I went to bed with a sinking feeling in my stomach.
I woke up the next morning with zero motivation to take on the Pokémon League. Why is Silver so mad at me? He loves Pokémon battles just like me!
I felt bad for my friend but what was I supposed to do? Silver wouldn't even talk to me now. Could I really take on the Pokémon League and win if my best friend wouldn't be there to cheer me on?
I listened to my Pokégear's radio for the latest news. "Today is the final day of the Rainbow Festival everyone! Yesterday we saw Entei make its grand appearance! Tonight during the closing ceremony we just might see the legendary Ho-Oh alongside the Legendary Beasts for the first time in centuries!" The person on the radio said.
Shoot! What am I going to do about the festival? I said I'd be there but... I don't want to do anything. I sat back down on my bed and stared at the Gym Badges in their case.
I looked out the window of my room as the day approached the afternoon and saw none other than Eusine wandering around outside.
I got up and hurried outside. "Eusine?"
He looked over at me with some surprise as I came out of my house. "Gold? You live here? Well, it's good to see you!"
"What are you doing all the way out here Eusine? Shouldn't you be at Ecruteak?" I asked.
Eusine looked off into the woods behind me. "I'm tracking down Suicune. Last I saw it, Suicune was heading this way. If I had to guess, it's in those woods." Eusine pointed at the forest.
It was considerably overcast today especially considering the weather yesterday. Suicune being nearby made perfect sense. "Why would Suicune be out here if it's supposed to be at Ecruteak tonight?" I wondered.
Eusine shrugged. "It can make the journey with ease, as to why it's out here... I cannot say. But I'm going to try and talk to it, you're welcome to come with me. Wait... where's Silver?"
I looked off to the side and took a deep breath. I explained what happened with Silver the night before to Eusine. "Well, Gold. It seems like you don't quite understand how to help your friend."
I crossed my arms. "I do too! He loves Pokémon Battles just like I do!"
"Yes, but that's not always the solution to one's problems." Eusine explained. "You're young so I can't blame you, but sometimes people need to rely on their friends and loved ones when they're going through a tough time. Just someone to talk to."
I didn't say anything for a while after he told me this. If battles are what help me, and I always try to cheer others up with them... how does Silver help others when they're sad?
"Just something to think about, I'm sure you two will have made up soon." Eusine said and he walked off into the woods. I hurried after him into the trees. Fall was fast approaching and I could already see leaves starting to change colors.
Had the weather not been so drab I would've felt a sense of familiarity to the day Raikou attacked me.
We walked along the river until I felt that familiar electric energy tingling on my skin. Eusine noticed it too but didn't seem to know what it was coming from.
I looked off into the woods and not too far from us, Raikou was standing on a stone and staring at me.
I ran across the mossy ground over to the Pokémon. "H-hey! Wait!" Eusine called and he hurried after me.
I came to a stop in front of Raikou and it snarled. Its eyes went to Eusine who drew in a sharp breath when he realized what was in front of him.
I stepped in between Eusine and Raikou. "He's my friend, Raikou. It's alright." Raikou took its eyes off Eusine and looked back at me. "So what're you doing all the way out here with Suicune?" I asked.
