Silver and I walked down the wooden docks of the Oceanside route. We wanted to avoid any wild Pokémon encounters and try and get somewhere we could make camp before the sun set.
Water lightly brushed against the docks as we strolled past a few fishermen. Some challenged us to battles but most just continued fishing.
The sun was beginning to set over the rocky mountains and I began to feel colder as the sun vanished.
A cool ocean breeze blew through the area and I couldn't help but shiver. "I wonder if we're a bit underdressed..." I thought aloud.
Silver shrugged. "I don't know about you but I'm feeling fine." I stared at him as he fiddled with part of his overcoat.
"Silv, you're dressed a bit heavier than me." I pointed out.
"I guess I am," Silver said and his face formed into a smile. "But we'll be fine! I can see the Pokémon Center up ahead!" He pointed down the path and I saw the orange Pokémon Center roof peaking above the trees.
We stepped off of the docks and ran over to the Pokémon Center stationed between a cluster of trees with the Union Cave entrance off to the side.
We walked into the Pokémon Center to have our Pokémon healed. The center was largely empty except for two hikers and the Nurse Joy.
We handed our Pokémon to the nurse and waited for the healing to be complete.
"What do you mean robbers?" One of the hikers asked his friend.
The other hiker furrowed his brow. "Let me finish what I'm trying to tell you then!" He spat. "Those two trainers were acting super weird, I'm convinced they are up to something."
The first hiker began to laugh. "Sure! You're just worrying too much like always!"
The second hiker shook his head. "I'm not sure... Union Cave is home to some rare Pokémon. I just get a bad feeling." The two hikers stopped talking and we retrieved our Pokémon.
"Gold, ya think we'll run into robbers in the cave?" Silver asked me. I noticed he was fiddling with part of his shirt collar.
I shook my head. "No way!" I assured him. "Even if we do, we can handle them!" I added on to try to calm his nerves.
We stepped outside and started to make camp. I was starting to shiver as we laid out our sleeping bags on the stone ground.
The sun had set and it was starting to get cold very quickly. We slid into our sleeping bags and looked up at the stars above.
"Man... I can't believe we're really doing it." Silver mused. "The whole world's just waiting for us."
I slid my arms into my sleeping bag to keep warm. "Mhm! It's almost a little scary." I admitted.
"You? Scared?" Silver said with a laugh.
I looked off to the side. "Well, yeah. Y'know how I didn't want to go on the journey before?"
"Yeah." Silver replied.
"I-I was scared. I still am. Every time I see an electric type I just... I feel scared." I confessed.
Silver didn't say anything for a bit. "Really? Gold I didn't know."
I was thankful for the relative quiet of the outdoors until that moment. I could barely hear a few of the trees swaying against each other and some Hoothoot hooting in the distance.
"I'm sorry," Silver said.
I rolled over and looked at him. "Sorry? You didn't do anything!" I told him.
