Chapter 5

Blood

Naramdaman kong nagising akong muli at nang idilat ko ang mata ko ay ibinababa na ako sa ambulansya.

"Welcome back, Selah. Nasa hospital na tayo." I heard Abe. I caught a glimpse of his clothes and I saw that it was tainted by my blood. Hinawakan niya ang kamay ko habang itinutulak ang stretcher papasok sa loob.

Nasulyapan ko rin ang regalo kong relo sa kanya na may bahid na rin ng dugo. Pinilit kong magsalita kaya yumuko siya sa akin.

"C-CJ." I muttered.

"She's been taken care of, okay? They're safe." He answered.

"What do we have here?" Naririnig kong boses na siguro ay mula sa isang doctor. Naramdaman kong hindi na ako hawak ni Abe siguro ay pinatabi na siya saglit.

"Oh god. This is Dra. Esme's daughter." A man in a gray scrubsuit muttered.

"Selah, I'm doctor Bonifacio and you're at Laurent hospital. You're in good hands now and we're gonna take care of you, okay?" Matapos niyang sabihin iyon ay bumaling siya sa rescue team.

"What happened?" He asked while checking my eyes with his pen light.

"Pressure's down, pulse is 150, o2 saturation is 82. She's been stabbed. Severe abdominal wound." The rescue team reported. Doc Bonifacio checked my wound. I can feel the dizziness again.

"She's lost too much blood and she's in shock. Page Doctor Esme and page trauma. Prepare the OR." Mabilisan niyang utos.

I heard the built in monitor beeping so loud. Kasabay nito ay naramdaman ko ang labis na sakit sa aking tiyan at likod bago ako pinangapusan na naman ng hininga. Hindi ako sigurado kung huminto talaga kami o ang mundo ko.

I grunted again and I felt my body shaking.

"She's about to code! Call trauma now!" That's what I heard before I lost total consciousness.

"Ooopps, sorry." I said. Then turned around and saw a man looking at me coldly before stabbing me at my abdomen. I can still feel that sharpness of the knife on my body. I can still see his cold eyes looking down unto me habang unti-unti akong nauupos sa panghihina.

"She's been unconscious for twenty four hours now." That's papa. I'm sure.

"She's stable and her body is just starting to regain its strength. Let her rest, Pablo." Now I can hear mama. Pinilit kong imulat ang mata ko at muli lamang napapikit dahil sa nakakasilaw na liwanag.

"Hey. Welcome back." I heard a whisper and when I turned my head I saw Abe smiling down at me. Mabigat na mabigat pa rin ang pakiramdam ko na tila paglingon ay masakit para sa akin.

"Tita, she's waking up now." I heard Abraham. Isa-isa silang naglapitan at nakita ko si papa at mama sa nag-aalalang mukha. Then mama instructed someone to call the doctor. Nilibot ko ang tingin ko at nakitang buong pamilya ko ang nandito.

I turned to my left when I felt a hand on my shoulder. Then I saw Luthor's serious face. Isa-isa ulit silang nag alisan sa paligid ng kama ko ng may pumasok sa loob. Then I saw two male doctors. Both of them are wearing a lab gown and with scrubsuit underneath them.

"Hi Selah. You gave us a scare in the OR. How are you?" Nakangiting bati sa akin ng isang doctor na nakascrubsuit na dark blue bago inilipat ang stethoscope sa aking dibdib.

Inayos ko ang oxygen sa aking ilong bago ngumiti ng tipid sa kanya.

"I'm Doctor Guzman, I'm from trauma and this is Doctor Bonifacio, your attending." Pakilala niya sa akin. Gustuhin ko mang bumangon ay ramdam na ramdam kong hindi ako makakakilos.
