Slugger (Sequel to 'The Jet') Benny Rodriguez

Chapter 1

When you first get married, everything is exciting. From the ceremony to the honeymoon, it's all good. You feel as though nothing could ever go wrong. You feel as if you are invincible, having been joined together with your other half.

The day you got married was one of the happiest days of your life. Only second best to the day your daughter was born. Although that day was a bit scary for you and Benny, you came through, and now had a beautiful girl in your life.

Now she was two years old, and there was another baby on the way. It was only two months along, but you and Benny were excited none the less.

He had been busier lately, due to all the MLB scouts visiting. They would always come to him personally, avoiding the rest of the team. It's not like the rest of the team wasn't good, but they weren't as good as Benny. None of them ever could be. Benny had a talent that few people in their entire lifetime could ever possess.

He was good, real good, and all the scouts wanted him. They knew he was married and had a kid, so they would always try and make their offer seem better than the others. Truth be told, the only thing he wanted was to stay in California, that way he wouldn't have to leave his home, and take you and Eva away from it either.

This particular day, one of the Oakland Athletics scouts came to visit with the General Manager with him. Benny was excited about this meeting because it would mean he could stay in California if they offered him a contract.

As he sat there, in his apartment living room, making small talk with the two men, he only had one thing on his mind... playing the game. He wondered what it would be like to play in a huge stadium, with thousands of fans watching. He'd already grown quite the fan base while playing in college, just imagine how popular he would be in the big leagues.

"So, I'm pretty sure you know why we're here. We'd like to talk with you about bringing you aboard the Oakland A's." The GM said, looking at Benny for a reaction. He smiled wide, glancing over at the bedroom door which was cracked open a bit. He could see you smiling back at him through the open sliver. You held up a thumbs up, continuing to listen to the conversation.

"Well sir, I can't say that sounds like a bad idea. I mean, it's based here, and my main concern was having to leave home.... so I think it sounds pretty good to me." He said, looking back over at the door, which was now open a little wider, showing you, sitting on the floor with Eva in your lap.

"I know we can't make anything official until you graduate, but we would love for you to consider us in your final decision. We know that several other organizations have already contacted you, but we hope you'll keep in touch." The Scout said, standing up and shaking hands with Benny.

Benny showed them out and when the door closed, you and Eva ran out of the room and hugged him as tight as you could.

"Angel you are incredible! Six scouts in one month! You could literally play wherever you wanted!" You told him. He pulled you close and kissed you. Call it a celebratory kiss.

"Ew..." Eva murmered, looking up at the two of you. You both just smiled before Benny scooped her up in his arms before kissing the side of her face.

"Well princess, it looks like it's getting late." He said, kissing her curly head and making her giggle. He kissed you one more time before going to put his little girl to bed.

"I'll be right back... then we can celebrate." He said, raising his eyebrows up and down.

"Not if you want her to stay asleep." You told him, making a point about your daughter who he was trying to put to bed.

He rolled his eyes and carried her into her room, setting her down in her bed. She had a sleepy smile on her face and her eyes started dropping closed.

"Daddy?" She asked, her little voice not yet able to fully form the word correctly.

"Yeah?" He looked down at her with a big smile. She was his princess and he would do anything for her. He was wrapped around her little finger and would bend to her will.

"Kiss?" She puckered her little lips up and closed her eyes like she did every night. Benny leaned down and gave her a sweet kiss before kissing her forehead.

"Alright, now you gotta sleep princess, okay?" He whispered, putting his hands under his head and pretending to sleep. She giggled quietly but nodded her head. She was still very little, and didn't even want to stay up. She was very sleepy and would be asleep minutes after Benny would leave. "I love you princess, goodnight."

"Night night Daddy." Her little voice reached his ears, making him smile more as he tip toed out of her room.

He closed the door and turned back into the living room, but you weren't there. He stuck his head around the corner to see if you were in the kitchen, but he didn't see you there either. A second later he heard the shower turn on in the other room.

He went to the bathroom door and tried to open it but it was locked.

He knocked three times to try and get you to open up.

"Who is it?" You asked in a sing song voice. He smirked and rolled his eyes, not really in the mood to be teased tonight.

"Its me now come on let me in." He said, kind of laughing in the process. He didn't know why he found this funny but he did.

"Why?" You asked in return. He sighed and shook his head.

"C'mon love, we were gonna celebrate." He said, his tone kind of annoyed. He leaned his shoulder against the door, listening as you cracked up behind the closed door.

"I'm taking a shower to get clean, not dirtier than I already am." You told him. Normally you would let him in no question, but you were having way too much fun with him.

"Love please? I'll do the thing if you let me in." He tried to bribe you, but you didn't have a clue to what he was talking about.

"What thing?" You asked.

"You know, the thing. Last weekend when your mom was watching Eva and that night-"

"Oh that thing."

"Yeah that thing."

Within two seconds the door was open, exposing your body that was scarcely hidden by a fluffy white bathrobe. Your hair was longer than it had ever been, falling several inches beneath your shoulders in natural, brushed out waves.
Benny stood with his jaw on the ground and kept letting his eyes scan you up and down.

"You coming or not?" You taunted, backing slowly into the now steamy bathroom. Benny didn't hesitate to follow you in before shutting the door.

You both did eventually wake up poor little Eva that night..... It was technically your fault, so you were the one who had to put her back to sleep.
