A few days later you went into work with a wide smile. You had a wonderful night the night before, as your mother and Benny's mother drove in to have dinner with you all.
Benny's mom adored Eva more than anything, and you loved watching her play with your sweet girl.
Funny thing though, Eva did have two grandmas, but no grandpas. It was kind of sad because it made you remember your dad. You'd thought about him a lot lately, starting with your wedding day. When you were younger he always told you he'd walk you down the aisle. When it didn't happen, you were sad, because it made you miss him more. At least you'd had Benny, who honestly reminded you of your dad so much. People always say that girls grow up to marry men like their father, and that was the truth. Baseball was your father's life, and the only thing he loved more than baseball was you.
You thought about your dad in this moment, thinking about how proud he would be of you having your first job. He knew there was greatness in you, and saw every inch of potential.
You walked confidently into the building, passing Molly the receptionist and giving her a friendly smile and wave as you passed her.
You headed on up to the office, feeling like you were walking in air. You didn't know why, but you had this strange confidence this morning. Maybe because of how you looked in your outfit. Since you were still only a little over two months pregnant, you weren't really showing at all.
Today you were wearing an outfit that Benny's mother got you, with a creme color button up shirt, and a wool skirt that came to about your mid calf. The dress really accentuated your curves, and made you feel like you were something special.
Of course all of this could just be the product of this morning, when you tried to leave the house and Benny kept stopping you at the door.
"Benny I have to go, I'll be late." You tried pulling away from him, only to have him gently back you into the wall by the door.
"But you look so beautiful, I wanna look at you more." He said, bringing his hands to your waist to hold you still while he kissed your neck.
"Ben I'm serious I gotta go, don't you have practice?" You tried to get him to stop but truth be told you weren't trying very hard.
"Not for two hours."
"I don't have two hours. I have to be there in forty five minutes." You told him. The drive there only took fifteen minutes, and even though he knew you liked to be early, he wasn't letting you go that easy today.
"I only need twenty." His hands started too lower on your body and at that point, you couldn't care less if you'd been five hours late.
Now standing in the hallway of the building, you breathed out a deep breath before going into Mr. Trambroni's office.
"There she is, right on time. Funny thing, never seen you come in this late though." He joked, standing from his seat to approach you. You sat down in your chair, picking up your notepad, ready to do whatever you were supposed to. It's funny, today he seemed to be a lot more cheerful, more cheerful than last week at least.
"Put that down dollface, we ain't doing that kinda work today." He told you. You set the pad down and looked up at him waiting for instructions. "Tonight there's this charity event that I'm supposed to go to. I usually bring a date but due to work reasons the old Johnny boy is single. I want you to be my date tonight." He told you, leaning against the filing cabinet.
