Benny tried to keep you calm as he drove you to the modeling agency.
The Oakland Athletics advertiser new you were as good as gold.... once you could learn to work the camera.
You tried doing some pictures in the sportswear, but let's just say they didn't exactly like how they turned out. It was obvious you were no model, not yet at least. Of course they weren't just going to pass up this marketing opportunity, so they sent you to an agency to learn a few things.
"Hey, don't be nervous. You're beautiful and they will love you." Benny brought his hand down to yours, grabbing it before kissing your knuckles lightly, never once taking his eyes off the road.
"I'm not nervous, I'm just not feeling like it's gonna be a place where I belong. I mean while I've played ball all my life l, these girls have worked to be here." You tried to explain your feelings to him, but he didn't understand. Sure you didn't have a past of exactly fitting in, but Benny didn't see why you couldn't belong in such a place.
"You have every right to be there, the same as everyone there does. You are beautiful and no one can say otherwise. So what, you play ball. That just makes you even better in my opinion." He said, dropping his hand to your thigh and caressing it gently.
Benny was always so supportive and encouraging. Anything you wanted to do, or even something you weren't sure of, he was convinced you could do it. He also helped to convince you that you could do it as well. He truly was the most gentle and sweet person you'd ever known.
"Thank you Benny." You set your hand on top on his and he gently squeezed your thigh, a sweet smile on his face.
"Your welcome, my love."
As the car pulled into thw parking lot, you shuddered at the size of the massive building. Now you definitely didn't feel as though you belonged here. After all, the marketing consultant did say it was the most exclusive and wide spread modeling agency in town.
Benny noticed your nervous expression, and came up behind you to wrap his arms around your waist.
"You're gonna do great, just be yourself. Just be Mack." He whispered to you.
Benny always made you feel like you could do anything, and just now he gave you the courage to hold your head high as you walked into the place.
The lady as the front desk came out from behind her area, coming to meet you as you walked in.
"Elzewerner Rodriguez I presume?" She approached you with the utmost importance, as though you were someone special.
"Yeah, that's me. But uh, you can call me Mack if ya want. It's what all my friends call me." You managed to get out, though your voice sounded scrambled. Nice first impression.
"A pleasure." She smiled to you, looking over to Benny now, whom she technically already recognized.
"I'm Benny Rodriguez." He said with a sweet smile. He really didn't need to introduce himself anywhere he went nowadays, but it was still mannerly.
"Yes I'm well aware. You're quite the player I hear." She responded.
"Well I'm no Babe Ruth." Benny always tried to stay humble, though deep down he did know the true extent of his actual talent.
"Very well, I know you're here to train with some of our more well known instructors. Allow me to lead the way." She said, nodding before turning to walk down the hallway.
You followed her as she walked, trying to stay calm as you passed different rooms filled with gorgeous girls, makeup artists, and designers.
When you arrived at a grand looking type room, you were brought to the halt by the woman who lead you there.
"Adele!" She spoke loudly to the other side of the room, where a few pretty young women were standing.
One of them heard the call of their name, strutting over to where they stood with a smile. She was quite lovely, with brown wavy hair, and brown eyes. Her skin was a bit pale, but had a rosiness to it.
"Yes ma'am?" She answered.
"This is Elzwerner Rodriguez and her husband Benny, she is going to be the newest trainee." The woman explained. Then she turned her head back to you, smiling as she did. "This here is Adelaide Demora. She is our youngest recruit to become an instructor. I trust that you are in good hands."
She left out of the room, leaving you with the younger, preppier girl.
"Hi there! I'm super exited to get to work with you. I've never met any baseball players before!" She squeeked. She probably wasn't a baseball fan, but she would be after a few weeks of knowing you.
"Well, I'm not exactly a baseball player. Not like him anyway." You admitted, though right after that, Benny nudged you as if that was a complete lie.
"She's actually better than me." Benny piped up from behind you, making you roll your eyes.
"Not even close. Anyways, it's really nice to meet you, I'm excited to learn stuff." You told her. She smiled as you and nodded, looking back to her group for a minute.
"Well if you'd like to get started, I guess we can go over and get you a pair of heels." She gestured to your feet, clad in your old and dingey PF Flyers. They didn't match the rest of your outfit at all, but you couldn't stand the feel of your fancy flats.
"Oh yeah, sorry about these by the way, they're just.... really comfy." You joked, clicking your heels together as if that did anything at all.
"Not a problem, what size shoe do you wear?" She asked, not paying attention to how big your feet were. You were very tall, so naturally you had bigger feet than other girls.
"Uh, I think an eleven would work." You told her, though she was a bit taken back by your answer.
"Oh. I'm not sure we have any that big, but come with me and I'll see what I can find for you." She began leading you across the room and it was only now that you recognized amongst the chairs in the room was a rather larger runway, elevated off the ground.
"I hope they don't make me walk on that, I'll fall off." You jokingly whispered to Benny, hearing him chuckle beside you.
"Nah, you'd dominate it. Those long legs walking down a runway? Lord have mercy on my soul." He said, making you giggle. The girl you followed after could only think of how cute you both were in that moment. She wondered if she could find someone to have a relationship with that could be like that.
"Alrighty, let's see if any of these fit." She said, pulling around a rack with several different show boxes on it.
After a few minutes you finally found a pair that fit comfortably, which was a size twelve. You forgot you were a size eleven in men's.
You were about to stand up, but as soon as you tried, your nearly fell over. The heels were a good three inches, and given that you'd meber actually work heels before, you were not ready to stan up yet.
Before you fell completely down though, Benny caught you, giving you a squeamish smile.
"What's so funny?" You asked him, as you found this the complete opposite of amusing.
"I'm getting major dejah vu." He chuckled.
"From where?" You asked curiously.
"The shower."
You smacked him in the chest as he laughed, then you tried to oush away from him, nearly falling over again. You devided to just sit on your but until you had directions.
Man this was gonna be a tough couole weeks. You were the complete opposite of girly. Even though you were quite pretty, you were still kind of masculine.
Rest assured, they would make a model out of you.
