Chapter 6 - Karasuno Girls Volleyball Team

I'm so proud of you guys :D

AKIKO STARTED TO WARM UP TO THE IDEA of being a part of the Karasuno girls volleyball team.

But every time she thought of it and was starting to get convinced the thought of leaving the boys behind was unbearable.

Hinata, the ball of sunshine, and Nishinoya, the lightning bolt, were going to whine.

She told these doubts to Daichi, who said he would organize a joined practice between the two teams to help her to decide.

She agreed to let them know she was a girl but the further details such as why 'she's doing what she's doing' weren't going to be discussed until she warmed up to the team members themselves.

"We're having a what!?"

Tanaka's voice boomed inside the gym as Akiko stepped into her volleyball shoes after school.

"Joined practice." Daichi replied calmly.

"Why?" Daichi whispered the reasons to Tanaka in his ear.

"Oh."

Needless to say, the girls were crushed. Not being sexist here, you know why. (I hope.)

The whole match Akiko played on the boys team in her 'guy attire' and while she took the 'guy necessities' off the boys were giving the girls small tips on how to improve.

She stepped into the gym greeting the girls team, who instantly knew who she was.

"Koisumi, right?" Their captain, Yui Michimiya, asked, though she knew she was correct. 

"Yeah." Akiko replied. 

Watabe, a first year, recognizing her. She pouted, saying, "Man, I had a small crush on you at the start of the year." She's not very open-minded.. what's up with being lesbo?

Akiko saw Tsukishima perk up at that small comment and she laughed mentally.

"Well, I want to get to know you guys. I could help you improve." Her face was lit up with a bright smile.

"First off," Aoki started, pointing an accusatory finger at her with narrowed eyes, "why do you do, y'know..?"

Akiko's smile fell, though she tried to lift it. She couldn't. "Personal business, you know?" She tried her best to not sound passive agressive, which she failed. Aoki caught onto this and apologized.

The rest of the girls gave off kind impressions and everybody spent the rest of the day giving each other tips.

When practice was coming to an end, Akiko tapped Michimiya on her shoulder as she started to pack things up. "Michimiya-San?"

"Yes, Koisumi?"

"Call me Akiko. Anyway, may I join you in your next practice match?" She asked. "I want to help you improve, Sudou sort of told me no other team cares about you guys and thinks it'll be a free win, and I want to change that. I'll join your match just once, please!"

Michimiya winced, shaking her head. "We don't have a practice match, like, anytime soon." Akiko tilted her head. "How so?"

"You know how you didn't have any recognition before the freak duo? Yeah that's the girls team. All we do is practice with each other." Akiko felt upset about that, and she knew she wanted to change it.

"We can arrange something. I'm well acquainted with the Aoba Johsai Captain."

Michimiya's eyes lit up. "Really? Oh my god thank you!" She couldn't help but tackle Akiko in a hug. Said girl yelped and nearly fell.

"Sorry.." Michimiya muttered, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"Thank you so much, Akiko."
