Chapter 7

I run around the hospital like a literal mad man trying to find Meredith, I've checked every on call room, the tunnels only found karev and yang studying charts "hey have you seen Meredith?" I ask them

"last time I saw her she was with Lexie and bailey" alex told me

"why what happened?" Cristina asked me worried

"something happened between a patient's parents and it really set her off so she ran off and I haven't been able to find her" I told them

Alex was about to speak when my pager went off "911 54742" which meant Sarah, I quickly ran off walking fast towards Sarah room seeing bailey and Meredith in there "what happened?" I asked

"I was talking to her and then she just started coding" Meredith said crying

I took her into my arms watching bailey and now Nelson checking her out I look outside the window of her room seeing no trace of Lydia and Adam, they either left or went to the cafe im just glad they aren't here currently

"we need to get her to the OR immediately" Bailey said rushing her out of the room

"it's going to be okay" I said quieting her just holding her kissing her head

"hey let's go get changed and wait in the waiting room for her" I told her

she nodded and I held her as we walked to the resident lounge I stayed outside waiting for her, she came out wearing her purple sweater and some jeans with the same shoes.

Once we were both dressed, we sat in the OR waiting room "derek, what if something happens? What if we lose her?" Meredith asked me

"we won't mer, and when she's awake we are going to be her parents if Lydia and Adam are going to fight us then we will fight back. She's our little girl" I told her kissing her cheek

A couple hours later Meredith is asleep on my shoulder and bailey comes out "I don't wanna wake her if it's bad news" I told her "

wake her" bailey said

I nudged Meredith awake "is she okay?" She asked bailey

"yes, surgery went amazing she fought the whole time. She is in the icu but Lydia and Adam are waiting for you guys with the adoption agency in conference room A" Bailey told us

"why the hell did they call the adoption agency? Couldn't they just wait until tomorrow while Sarah is recovering?" I said angrily

"they actually don't know that Sarah was in surgery, you guys only knew because Meredith paged you and they were nowhere to be found. I go if I were you" Bailey said, Meredith and I walked together to the conference room

Once we opened the door we saw an older woman and the two people we dreaded seeing were sitting talking "Dr. Grey and Dr. Shepherd glad for you guys to join us I'm Samantha I work for the adoption agency at hillside orphanage" she said holding out her hand which we both shook her hand

we sat down across from Adam and Lydia "now we can get started I'm going to ask you four some questions, they will be slightly personal so I don't mind if you don't answer" Samantha told us

"This is for the birth parents, why did you give up Sarah in the first place" she asked, I looked at Meredith giving her the okay to tell her everything

"Well. I was an intern when I got pregnant with her, derek and I barely knew each other when we were making her so she was very sudden. I started to get to know derek because we worked in the hospital together and he always kept asking me to be on his service anyways I was going to tell him at dinner but then I found out he had a wife while we were dating so I broke things off with him even though he was trying to win me back the whole time, when I found that out I never considered abortion because I knew I couldn't do that so i gave her up. It was so hard on me and knowing that she was going to get an amazing family made it a little bit better on my end, everyday since then I've wondered about her a lot because knowing someone who has my genes and quirks is out there. I regret giving her up all the time since me and derek got back together because I know we would've been amazing parents together" Meredith told her with tears streaming down her face, I rub her back

A few more questions go by and she finally asks "where was Sarah tonight?" Samantha asks

Lydia speaks up "she was in her hospital room all day getting prepped for her surgery tomorrow with Dr.nelson, we watched a few cartoons together"

"Meredith derek is that correct?" Samantha asks us

"Of course it's correct they were barely even in her room, Dr. grey ran out of the office like a scared little girl obviously they aren't prepared for this" Adam says in a low yell

"That is incorrect. Yes Sarah was in her room all day but up until five hours ago she went into an emergency surgery because her pupil blown and she was bleeding from her burn sites, she is in the icu getting her body recovered from everything and I believe that me and Meredith are perfectly capable of being her parents. We are doctors and yes we can't be there all the time but we will give her a life of love and respect, we are actually thinking of building a house on some land I bought and Meredith has a wonderful house nearby the hospital" I told her with a smile

"I think that's all the information I need, thank you four for coming in and sharing I will be in touch with you guys but till then I will be putting Sarah in custody of derek and Meredith. I will call you both in about a month for your court hearing and then a judge will decide where Sarah gets placed in her forever home. Have a wonderful night" Samantha said shaking our hands

I looked at Adam with a smirk and walked out of the room hand n hand with my beautiful girlfriend
