Chapter 18

"Now that Sarah is going to be discharged in a few moments I would like to talk to you guys about therapy for her" Arizona told us

"What kind of therapy Arizona? You want us to send our 6 year old to psych?" Derek yelled

"I'm not sending her to psych, I would have as soon as she woke up. She told someone to kill her, she needs help and they also want to talk to you guys which I think is crap because you would never hurt her" she used her stern voice

Two people come in from psych and Arizona exits "hi I'm Dr. Reynolds this is my assistant Mr. Black now I've read your records and I know you two wouldn't hurt a kid also on Sarah there is no sign on her of abuse so we call rule that out" he said crossing that out

"Hell yes you can rule that out child abuse isn't a fucking joke" derek yelled at him

"Derek calm down he's trying to help stop it" i sternly told him

Derek sat back down and Dr.Reynolds continued "now before all of this did you see a change in Sarah's behavior?" He asked

"I mean the day before she passed out at school I picked her up from school she had teary eyes but she wouldn't talk about it, I told derek and we tried talking with her but she wouldn't budge then the next day she ended up in the hospital" derek said taking my hand

"Derek you don't think" I said looking at him

"You think a group of kids did this?" Dr. Reynolds then asked

"But she had a tumor in her CT scan, she could've had it before but the tumor would've been so small you could barely even recognize it on the scan. We might have to ask her" derek  told us

"You know she won't answer that, she's a little kid" I said towards him

"Trying doesn't hurt Meredith, we have to think of every possible situation I mean I can't believe I totally forgot that she even told that guy to you know what" he said very frustrated running his hand through his curls

"You guys were in shock and derek you were lying in a hospital bed not knowing what was going on, and also not knowing your daughter was hurt badly. Let's go into her room and ask her" Dr. Reynolds suggested

We all got up heading out the conference room door, one by one we entered Sarah's hospital room "hey love bug" I said coming into her room followed by her dad and Dr. Reynolds with his assistant

"Hi mommy, hi daddy am I going home now" she asked

"Not yet Sarah. Dr. Reynolds here wants to ask you a few questions" derek said crouching down at her level

"Hi Sarah I'm Dr. Reynolds this is my assistant Mr. Black how are you feeling today" he asked her

"I'm feeling good, I get to see my room today and that's what I'm most excited about" she ecstatically said with a huge smile on her face

I leaned into Derek's body as he snakes his arms across my waist kissing my head, we both watched Dr. Reynolds and our daughter have this conversation. It's heartbreaking to wonder if little 6 to 8 year olds driving one of their school peers to end it all, tears escape my eyes just thinking about that "hey shhh it's okay" derek calmly said into my ear, he rubbed my shoulders trying to save me from embarrassment

"Now Sarah I'm going to ask you a few questions and I would like for you to answer them truthfully okay?" Reynolds asked

Sarah nodded and he began with questions one "what is at home like? Is everything there okay" he asked her

"I haven't been there for awhile so I hope it's okay because I really miss aunt Lexie and Alex" she told him

"Who is alex?" He questioned towards us

"Oh he is a doctor here, one of my really good friends" I smiled

"Who all live in your house?" He asked Sarah

"Mommy and daddy, Alex, aunt Lexie I think that's all" she told him

"Is that true?" He looked at us

"Yes but Sarah we actually got two new roommates it's Jackson and April, they both work in this hospital" I told both of them

"Now how is school? Do you miss your friends?" He then asked her, here we go the school answers

Sarah looked down at her hands "well I don't really have any friends" she told him

"How come? You seem like a very sweet girl" he told her

It made her smile with gleam "these two girls came up to me and were being nice but one day they just started being really rude telling me that mommy and daddy don't love me anymore, which I knew wasn't true because everyday momma would always tell me that she and daddy loved me then reads me a book to fall asleep. But then one day they hit me on the head with a book and I ended up here" she explained to us

I looked at derek and I saw his face get red with that sentence, I can't believe two little girls did that to my baby girl "do you know their names?" I asked her coming to sit next to her

"Elizabeth and Fallon, they are both in my class with Mrs. Terra" Sarah told me

"We need to get the school involved and possibly the police" derek suggested, I agreed with him

"Definitely the school but we have them meet us here, we will have security ready for them and the police if needed because parents can get very upset, also don't wear your scrubs they might get intimidated by your work life" Reynolds told us

"When should we do this?" I asked him

"Tomorrow, I'll call the school and get the parents and officials here immediately after that" Reynolds said, his assistant and himself walked out that door. Hopefully tomorrow we will be getting some answers and hopefully some justice
