Chapter 5

A few days flew by very quickly, derek and I met Sarah's potential parents last night

What all went down last night:

"Hi I'm Adam and this is my wife Lydia, are you Sarah's Doctors" Adam questions

"Um no but we are just familiar with her case, Dr. shepherd is just looking over her brain scans so when dr. Nelson takes her to surgery he can get the go ahead" I told him with a slight smile

"So what exactly happened" Lydia asked

"I wasn't on scene but it was an accidental fire that happened at the orphanage fortunately everyone survived, from what paramedics told us that Sarah fell on her way out giving her a sight concussion which caused a brain bleed which cleared up thankfully but looking at her scans we noticed a tumor in her brain that is operable so Dr. Nelson is going to go in and take the tumor out" Derek told them crossing his arms

"Are you guys her watchers or nurses? I'm confused why they have you two watching her" Adam asked in a tone

"I'm a surgical resident and Dr. shepherd is the head of neurosurgeon, but we are gonna get out of your way so you can spend time with her" I told them trying to get out of their way

"Wait we would like if the head of the department could do her surgery, I want the best outcome for her" Lydia said in almost tears

I stopped and looked at derek "well I have a pretty busy schedule today but I can speak to my superior if you'd like?" Derek questioned them, they both nodded then me and derek walked out of the room into an oncall room

"Why did you promise them derek, you know you can't do her surgery. You never promise patients parents you should know that, i can't believe I'm the one to tell you this" I angrily told him

"Mer, I only told them to give them a little hope. I'm gonna go talk to Richard about this he needs to know" derek said walking out the room

I let out a big sigh and also walked out but walked in a different direction than him "did you guys just have dirty angry sex?" Cristina asked me

I chuckled at her response "no, Sarah's potential parents asked if he could perform the surgery, he tried to tell him no but then he promised them to see if he could actually do the surgery.. I have no idea what's got into his brain, anyways I need to stop rambling what's going on with you" I asked her

"I met this guy last night in the ER and he was wearing this army outfit also he was bloody as well and after I fixed him up he just kissed me then he left I haven't seen him since" Cristina told me

"wow, mysterious army man. Maybe he'll come up in your dreams and steal you away in dream land" I laughed, she pushed me a little bit

"Hey grey" I heard bailey say behind me

"What?" I asked her

"Shepherd and Webber need you in Webber's office" she told me walking away, I give Cristina a worried look I walked away towards the chiefs office.

When I walked into his office I saw Richard, derek, and Sarah's potential parents Adam and Lydia "ahh Meredith nice for you to join us" Richard said

I smiled to him and walked over to the farthest place from derek giving him a look "now I have you all here, Dr. shepherd filled me on the situation and I can't have Dr.Shepherd work on Sarah we have a rule here" he said to the potential parents in front of him

"What rule? We just want the best for our hopefully daughter" Adam said holding lydia's hand

tears are forced out of my eyes when they call Sarah their daughter "family members can't work on family members" Richard broke the news to them, I saw their eyes drop "so who are you then Dr. Shepherd?" Lydia said trying not to cry

Derek walked over to them behind Richards desk where I am, I tried to get away but he dragged me with him "me and Dr.Grey are Sarah's real parents"
