Clarke asleep, sat half upright on a hospital bed. her daughter clutched in her arms as a respirator was wrapped around her small, frail head. Baby Eli snuggled at Emma's feet, Clarke's other arm cradling him against his sister.-
"She will be fine." The doctor assured her, "just an airway blockage, we thankfully removed it in time before it could cause more serious damage. In the mean time we will have her on a ventilator and may have to keep her overnight."
Clarke's eyes pooling with tears, the thought of losing Bellamy still fresh in her mind, she was just grateful her daughter was okay.
Clarke nodded, sniffing as she was brought into the room with her daughter, she smiled through the tears that covered her face as she was met with the glowing face of her child."Ma! Ma!" She shouted, her arms out stretched and clasping at air as if to say 'I missed you, give me a hug.'
Clarke walked over, the stream of tears never ending as she took her daughter up, into her arms and hugged her tight."I'm glad she's okay.." hummed Clarke's mother as she stepped into the room, holding a sleepy Eli in her arms.
Clarke sniffed again, wiping the tears from her face with a sleeve as she turned to her mother."And Bellamy?" She muttered, her words stifled by her tears.
"He's still in surgery.. we won't know until it's over.."
Clarke nodded, parting from her daughters bed and walked over to her mother, fresh tears adding to the already cluster that covered her face as her mother pulled her into a hug.
"I know, baby.. I'm so sorry.." she cooed, patting her daughters back as she sobbed into her arms.Moments had passed and Clarke had stopped crying, her cheeks were still red and puffy and the occasional-unintentional tear crept through her eyes, but she tried to stay positive, for her babies.
"He will be fine.." raven tried to assure her, playing with Emma and the toys Raven brought.
Clarke looked up from her gleeful children to her friend. "I know things don't look good right now, but.. I don't know, I don't think he's ready to go..""What do you mean?" Clarke snuffed, breaking her gaze and reverting it to her kids.
"I understand what you see.. you saw him being an arrogant, disrespectful, jerk who did want to be apart of his kids lives.. but what we saw was a scared kid.. he wasn't scared of being a parent, he was scared of being a bad one.. I mean, that day you visited him, we didn't know but.. he wanted to come back to you, he wanted to apologise and make it up to you but... things got messy." She began, tossing her head to the sides. "Kane even got a phone call from Bellamy's soon-to-be boss requesting he be transferred to somewhere closer to you.."
Another tear escaped her eyes as she turned away from everyone, hiding her feelings.
"I don't mean to make you cry, Clarke. I just think- I think he's not done with you yet. He's not ready to die because.. we'll, you..""Can I have a moment." She cut her friend off, Raven froze, a look of sorrow and understanding crossing her face. She broke her trance at Clarke. Nodding slowly as she got up, kissed the twins on the head and left, closing the door behind her.
The second the doors latched, tears began streaming down Clarke's face once more. She tried to grab the pillow, covering it with her face in an attempt to hide her agony as she buried her face in it, but it was no use. After a solid 20 seconds of her crying, her breaths became laboured as she struggled to breathe. She feared she was going to hyperventilate and pass out, but Eli pushed the pillow from her face, exposing her tears as he placed his hands on her cheeks."Da" He huffed, trying to smile. But Clarke continued to cry, pulling her baby in and kissing him on the forehead as she laid back against her now, pillowless wall.
"Da.. Da!" He huffed as he wriggled from her arms and to the pillow Emma was playing with. It was a toy Clarke didn't recognise. at first she thought it was a gift from Raven or her mother, but upon closer inspection she noticed it looked vaguely familiar. Eli snuggled into the teddy, Emma yawning as she looked to her mother, a stunned look plastered across Clarkes face as she recognised the bear as one of Bellamy's from his childhood with Octavia. She huffed at the thought of Eli knowing it was his and more tears ran down her face.
Clarke's head laid back against the wall, her eyes closing as she tried to fight back her emotions, but the overwhelming sense of pain and anger needed to escape her. She clenched her eyes shut, trying to focus on the little movements of her kids.
It was when Emma started coughing and crawling onto her lap, that Clarke instinctively wrapped her arm around her daughter, feeling Emma's small hands grasp Clarke shirt as she nestled in to get comfortable. Clarke sighed, a few more tears escaping as she held her daughter, and before she knew it, they all drifted off to sleep.-
"Clarke.." the door opened to her room as Raven spot Clarke asleep upright, holding her kids. She smiled for a moment, stepping over and gently waking Clarke up. "Clarke.." She huffed.
"Mm..." Clarke responded, weary and in pain.
"He's out of surgery.. he wants to see you."
Clarke's eyes opened, tears returning to them as her eyes met with Ravens."He's..." she muttered, Raven smiling as she nodded.
Clarke got up, raven telling her to go as she gathered the twins and Clarke stepped from her room, her mother waiting for her to lead her to Bellamy's side.
She rushed into his room, seeing him weak, yet smiling from his bed. He was hooked up to a series of machines, tapes running across his face and from his arms, and yet all he could do was smile and muster a few words.
"Hi princess."
