So nick woke up with some side pain so he went to the hospital because 3 weeks before and they said if he had any pain in the next 4 weeks so he got up and went he didn't want to but he also didn't want Ellie mad at him so he had a choice either ignore the pain and Ellie be mad and yell at him or keep Ellie happy and go to make sure its nothing he choose to make Ellie happy although he didn't plan on telling her. So he went and turns out some stitches came loose and he opened up a stitch in his side so they had to go in and fix it which meant surgery which he didn't care he been in worse situations. So the hospital called his family which was his mom sister and niece his dad died a few years ago after his family arrived they spoke to nick and the doctors took him back before they did nick said call Ellie because he wanted to see her smile and hear her voice when he woke up he thought so his family called Ellie from Nicks phone but Ellie didn't pick. So they texted her and told her then they saw she read it when they saw that they got mad like why would she not respond or come down when you find out your teammate more like family member from what Nick says they got mad but just as they were fixing to call her again and give her a taste of there mind the doctors came out and told them nick is out and is awake asking for them and Ellie. His mom sister and niece were upset and sad that his suppose other family weren't there they just didn't know how to tell nick but before they went in they prepared what they were going to say then they went in and told Nick he looked sad when he found out that made them made that Meanwhile Ellie was in a dark basement hurting from all the beating she's received but all she could think about was Nick that's what made it bearable knowing her team would find her and she would see nick again.
The next day
Gibbs team was fixing to raid a place they thought Pablo was holding Ellie luckily for them she was there. They took her to the hospital and she only had minor injuries Gibbs and the team went home to sleep and said they would come back to visit Nick because they had already visited him. So after Ellie got discharged she found out that Nick was there and went to go see him so she found the room and knocked his family let her in not realizing it was Ellie until Nick said
N: hey Ellie
E:hey nick how are
N: good what happened to you
She had a few bruises on her face. But before she could answer his sister said
S= sister m=mom ni=niece
S: I have a question for you Ellie
E: ok what is it
S: if you are close to my brother why are you just now showing up I mean why show up now when you haven't been here these past 2 days huh?
M: you don't have to answer that Ellie she just worried
Ni: yeah mom I agree with grandma
S: what's wrong with asking I mean we all are wondering aren't we all wondering why
N: guys stop please I want her here just like I want y'all here and she probably had a case like the rest of the team
S: come on speak up don't be quiet
E: I don't know what you want me to say I mean y'all say talk then don't
S: if you really cared about my brother you would have been here from the start like his true family so just leave
E: ok then
She started to leave when Nick and his mom said
N&M: stay
S: why are y'all wanting her here she wasn't her for him in the start
Ellie started to cry and say
E: ill come later
N: don't leave
S: you don't even have the guts to say why you weren't here
E: if you want to know so bad here's why. So we caught a case and um. While investigating I was sent to question a suspect and when I got there the door was open so I took my gun out and went in and just as I got in I was hit with something over the head and was knocked out and when I woke up I was in basement getting kicked in the stomach then he just beat from there then Gibbs and the team came got me out and brought me here to where I had just got discharged before I came so I could see how nick was so that is why I wasn't here earlier
N: WAIT WHAT? How come Gibbs didn't tell me
E: knowing him and you he knew you needed to rest and if he told you would have come and tried to help although you needed to rest.
N: I'm so sorry Ellie
E: why are you sorry
N: that I wasn't there
By this time his family left so they could talk
E: there's nothing you could've done
N: I love you Ellie
E: I love you too Nick
He then kissed her
