Set after Marcus dies (Hailey's CI)
As soon as Voight told the team to go home Hailey rushed out of there cuz she knew Jay would ask her if she was ok and she knew if he asked and looked into his eyes she would break down and she didn't want to in front of Jay but as soon as she got down stairs she realized she and Jay carpooled but before she could call for an uber someone shouted her name
J: HAILEY
H: what jay
J: uhh ok I was just going to ask if you were ready for me to take you home
H: uhh I'm fine ill ride with Rojas
J: I drove you and Rojas here this morning remembers
R: you guys ready
J: yeah
They all started walking towards the car Hailey hopped in the back which is weird since she always rides up front so Vanessa just hopped up front the drive home was silent Hailey when they pulled up as they were getting out jay said
J: night Hails and Rojas
R: night jay
Hailey didn't say anything she just got out and walked inside Vanessa looked at Jay who was shocked and said
R: what did you do
J: nothing that I know of I promise
R: ok ill talk to her
J: ok thanks
R: no problem
Vanessa goes inside to talk with Hailey and find out why she is being so distant and mean to Jay and Hailey explain everything and tells her not to tell jay because she doesn't want to look vulnerable after Hailey goes to sleep Vanessa texts jay
She's fine just the events of of the past couple of days are finally setting in but don't tell her I told u plz

And over the next couple of weeks Hailey is just keeps her distant from Jay. The entire time jay is wondering what he did wrong and then after 2 weeks he gives up and just asks Vanessa if Hailey has been opening up to her and she says yes jay is relived and does what he does best and just pushes people out and after 1 month she realized Jay has just shut her out and she just don't care till Jay don't show up one day and she goes to ask Kevin where he is
H: hey where's jay
K: I can't say
H: why not
K: why do care I mean you haven't cared about him this past month
H: he's my partner and best friend
K: no offense but if he was you wouldn't have shut him out when things get hard
H: that's not fair because he is doing the same thing to me
K: yeah but it's because you did it first and he tried to get you to let him in you never did that hurt him because he thought y'all were best friends and he knows different
H: we are best friends I have just been going through some stuff
K: ok so has he
H: can you just tell me where he is
K: can't say

She walked off and went and asked the rest of the team and none of them knew where he was only Kevin and he wasn't budging
A couple hrs. later
Jay come walking upstairs says hi and asks what he missed they tell him nothing then he walks into the break room and Is pouring himself some coffee so Hailey went in there
H: hey where were you this morning
J: I had to be somewhere
He then just walked out and Adam walked to see Hailey in shock

H: UH Jay was just so short and sounded mad

A: he's been like for the past week

So they just finished a case and Voight tells them to all go home and they do the paperwork tom they don't argue and head out. Hailey heads home and changes and then heads to Jays so she can what's wrong she gets to his place knocks and a couple min later Jay comes to the and when he sees who it is he is surprised
H: hey
J: hi
She pushed past jay and walks in
J: make yourself at home
H: ok what's up
J: what do you mean
H: you've been distant lately
J: vie been distant and what about you
H: ok I have been distant and I'm sorry
J: yeah
H: I am
J: I have on question though
H: what is it
J: why
H: why what
J: why is it that I opened up to you and even when I didn't want to you made me but then when it came time for me to be there for you pushed me away because you didn't want me to see you vulnerable huh
H: she told you
J: yeah that night I asked her to find out what was up so I could be there for you
H: I asked her not to tell you
J: why, why don't you want me to see you vulnerable I mean you've seen me vulnerable you've made me open up
H: I also never gave up on you
J: I didn't give up on you weren't letting me in after I tried to get you to and then you don't want to talk to me at all so before I quit asking I asked Vanessa if you had opened up to her she said yes so I left you alone because I know it ain't good for you
h: well it felt like it
j: you shut me out stopped being my friend and stopped talking to me and only if needed do you know how that felt the person who is supposed to be your best friend just shuts you out
h: we are best friends and I'm sorry
j: you have a funny way of showing it I mean I've been there for the good times but every time it gets bad I always get shut out every time you only allow me there to be there for good I mean you've seen me at my bad why can't I see you at yours
h: I don't know
j: come talk to me when you do, you can let your own self out
h: bye
she left and when she got in her car cried and was crying when she got home she was still crying and she told Vanessa everything
v: he hurt Hails I mean wouldn't you be if he didn't let you in but you let him in
h: yeah but it still hurts
v: yeah because you love him
h: as a friend and partner yeah

h: yeah what about you and Kev
v: nothing going on
h: just like there is nothing going on between me and jay

back at jay apartment
this always happens the ones I fall in love with always hurt me no matter If they are here or have moved away I mean with everything going on with Hailey and brad dying can I catch a break. Over the next few hours jay just watches tv and drinks then head to bed.
So the next day Hailey kept trying to talk to jay but every time he would just walk away this went on for the next couple of days then Hailey had an enough of it so after work she went straight to Jays house and uses the key he gave her for emergencies and goes in so they can talk it out and fix this whole mess. She walks in and he isn't in the kitchen or living room so she goes in his room and finds him standing there in pants texting someone so she knocks in the doorway making Jay jump and reach for his gun but Hailey speaks up
H: it's just me
J: geez you shouldn't scare a person and what are you doing here
H: sorry and we need to sit down talk and fix our friendship
J: what's there to fix
H: the fact that you have shut me out
J: you've done the same thing
H: now I'm not
J: ok but that don't change anything there nothing to fix anyways Cameron's death just brought to light the underlying problem that's there and made me realize stuff
H: like what stuff
J: I don't know the fact that you don't trust me outside of work even after you've said you've trusted me since the day you met me
H: I do trust you outside of work and I have
J: yeah well trust is feeling comfortable opening up to people and its clear you don't feel comfortable opening up to me
H: uh I do it's just....

H: the fact that I opened up to Vanessa and not you

J: geez let me think the person who I thought was my best friend is afraid to open up to me I mean I've done it to you and what your feeling isn't worse than all my war stories and its hard but if I can do it of all people why can't you open up to me
H: I am your best friend and I'm not afraid to open up to you
J: then why after camerons death did you shut me out and ignore me and whenever I tried to help you just yelled at me to leave you alone or go to hell huh
H: because I was scared
J: scared of what Hailey I mean have I ever hurt you
H: no
J: then why are you scared huh why
H: this was mistake
She went to leave and when she did she heard jay say something
J: classic girls
H: what's that supposed to mean
J: when things get tough and to the point to where you don't want to talk about what's wrong you run away and shut people out
H: no we don't
J: then answer my question
H: I don't owe you an explanation
J: just leave just stay the Hell out of life I mean if you're scared to open up to me or let me be there for you then why are friends I mean I open up to you but when it comes you opening up me you would rather run and shut me out
H: you don't mean that do you
J: yes, I do I don't want to just be there for the good times I want to be there for the bad but if you don't let me then what's the point I mean friends are supposed to be there for each other I mean your there for me but then when it your turn to open up when it gets tough you shut me out
H: its habit
J: how you let Rojas in
H: you want to know why it's because I'm scared you leave if I do all the men I love usually leave when I open up to them
By this point she was crying and jay was slowly moving forward he reached her and just hugged her and she broke down and jay kept reassuring her that he wasn't leaving or walk away a couple minutes later she finally stopped crying and explained everything and that what he had said and was acting had hurt her and he responded with he only acted like that because she hurt him and his friend brad that he served with had that's why he left early and was so distant they got everything out of there system and felt better then Jay spoke up

He leaned down and kissed her after a few seconds she kissed back deepening the kiss and placing her hands around his neck while he grabbed her waist and scooted her closer she then started to slip her hands under his shirt and then with the help of jay took it off a couple min later he did the same then he picked her up and carried in the bedroom for some exercise
