Upstead. Jays dad pt 1

Hailey was coming home from  New York today she was excited Vanessa was picking her up hailey was wanted jay to pick her up but he said he had to do something and Vanessa volunteered she had just said her farewells to Oa she went back to the hotel changed into sweats and crop top and tennis shoes she headed to the airport e cited to get back she checked in and got on the plane she slept on the plane ride back when she landed she got her luggage and walked to find Vanessa she looked around and saw her Vanessa saw hailey and ran to her she basically tackled her with a hug
H: I'm glad to see you to
V: how was New York
H: good but I'm glad to be home
V: I'm glad your home the house has been quiet without you
H: lets head home
V: are sure you don't want to see jay first
H: he said he had something to do
V: that's why you asked me to pick you up
H: yeah
V: he's fine I'm sure
H: yeah your right
Hailey was still jay has been distant these past two days with her she was really worried about him she hoped he was ok she had been gone for two weeks and he had no one he would open up to especially if he had a tough case not even the therapist could know since it was police business when they got home she went upstairs to change into shorts and a t-shirt to sleep because she was sleepy she slept for three hours when she woke up she checked her phone for text from jay but she didn't have one she was sad so she decided to text him

H: hey I'm back wanna meet for drinks and catch up
She waited a few minutes since that's how long it usually takes for him to respond but he didn't she was disappointed she then went to get food in hopes jay would respond when she checked her phone so she went and ate and talked to Vanessa
V: Is everything ok
H: yeah why
V: you seemed worried
H: yeah I'm just worried about jay
V: why
H: he's seemed distant and when I left he said he would pick me up but then called the day before and said something came up and when I asked what came up he said it was nothing
V: I'm sure he's fine he's a former army ranger and the most talented and experienced cop in the unit no offense
H: none taken and your right he's the best cop I know but also the stupidest
V: yeah but he's always helping someone out when he is being stupid
H: true
She relaxed a little bit she then went and grabbed her phone she had text from jay
Jay: I'm glad your back safely I really want to but I'm busy
Hailey: is everything ok
Jay: yeah why?
Hailey: just curious
Jay: I'm fine hailey something just came up I would much rather be getting drinks with you
Haiiley: ok don't do anything stupid please
Jay: I will try not to
Hailey: 🙄

Hailey was still was worried but felt better but she was still curious as to what it was. Little did she know Jay was dealing with the anger that his mom didnt die of cancer his dad killed her he was angry and turns out his dad is alive he just faked his death Jay composed himself and texted hailey

J: can you come over I need to talk to you
When haileys phone dinged when she was catching up with Vanessa she checked it she saw it was a text from jay asking her come over she s lied she got happy she really wanted to see jay but last part of the text scared her
H: hey V I have to go somewhere
V: ok your gonna see your bf
H: noo
She got up
H: I'm on my way is everything ok
J: yeah but I need to talk to you
Hailey was worried but glad he texted she got dressed and headed over there when she got there she knocked and he answered when he did hailey saw he was troubled she walked in and over to the island
H: what's up
J: welcome back
H: thank you but answer my question
J: ok so I wanted to give you a head ups I'm not coming back into work for a little while
H: why what's wrong what's up why won't you be coming into work
J: personal stuff I just thought I would give you a heads up
H: why
J: for reasons
H: Stop it tell me why
J: I can't
H: bullshit I just got back and you are leaving what is going on
J: stuff i can't tell it's personal and you can get mad all you want but this is to protect you
H: I don't need protecting
J: this is something you don't need to know
H: why
J: if I told you he could come after you and killed you and I'd rather be the one killed than you be the one killed this is all about  me not you and you could get killed and I'm not fixing to let that happen ever
H: I can handle myself
J: I know you can but as you partner and friend it is my job to protect you and that's what I'm doing
H: why won't you tell me
J: I called you as a courtesy and being nice so I'm glad your back safe I'll see you in a few weeks
H: no your not *crying* don't go
J: *bite his lip* I'm sorry I don't want to go either
H: then don't stay and we can work this out
J: I wish I could but I'm doing this to protect you I could never forgive myself if anything happened to you this is for your own safety
H: stay please stay
J: I wish I could but this is to protect you and the unit and everyone I care about
H: why at least explain to me why
J:  no I want to but you will become involved and a liability and we'll not a liability a target
H: I can handle myself please explain and don't go. We will figure this out together
J: this is my battle I'm not fixing to let you get killed because of me so trust me and let me do this
H: I do trust you so why can't you trust me
J: I do but I'd rather protect you
H: I don't need protecting *crys even harder*
J: I'm sorry
He walks over and hugs her she hugs back tight crying he kissed her head
J: I will be back before you know it
H: noo
He let go she grasped on tight but he slipped out she fell down crying as he left she was scared she didn't want him to go it took her a moment but then she composed her self and went to the one person she knew would have answers voight she drove over to the district she came in the back way so she could avoid platt she went straight to voight slammed the door
SV: welcome back
H: whats up with jay
SV: what do you mean
H: why is jay leaving for a little while
SV: did jay tell you why
H: no
SV: ok lets keep it that way this is his business this is him
H: he's my partner I have a right to know
SV: all I can tell you is that he's after his father
H: his father  his fathers dead he died in the apartment fire

SV: no he survived he faked his on death
H: then why wouldn't he tell me what's so dangerous that he didn't tell me
SV: that's up to him to tell you
H: well he can't he just left
SV: then I don't know what to tell you
H: tell me something tell me why he left tell me what's so dangerous about  it
SV: I can't tell you
H: why
SV: because if jay wanted to tell you then he would have and all's he trying to do is protect you
H: I don't need protecting I need my partner
SV: well I don't know what to do about that kid
She walked out of his office and out to her  car she drove to jays place because she wanted to be alone and she wanted to look for clues when she got in his apartment she broke down she was hurt and confused she was hurt and sad that he didn't tell her why and just left time she got back and confused as to why he was going after his father and why he left without explanation and why his father faked his death and why jay is so angry to she punched the couch and broke down she was afraid she would never see him again she kept thinking about all the what if's what if she never saw him again etc....  it took her a little while but she got herself together she then started searching around she looked in his safe in his room she put the code in because he told her the code In case anything happened to him she looked through and found a file she got the file closed the safe and took the file set it on the island and looked through the file and found out everything she found that his dad killed his mom and sister haileys jaw dropped she never knew he had a sister she closed the file and went back to voight

I'm so freaking sorry to do this again but pt 2 will be posted next week
