INDIANA II JJ Maybank (Outerbanks)

chapter three

I woke up the next morning in Rafe's bed. I turned around and saw that he was still sleeping. I took that as my opportunity to sneak out without him noticing. 

It was still early in the morning, so I hoped that John B was still asleep so I could sneak into my room. I didn't really want to explain to him, that I had spent the last night with a Kook. 

I walked into the Chateau and saw JJ passed out on our pull out coach in the living room. I went back into my room and just a few seconds after I had sat back on my bed the door opened with John B.

"Good morning Indi" He said with a smile.

I pretended to stretch out my arms as if I just had woken up. "Good morning John B" I smiled back.

"Have you already been outside?"

"No" I lied, I had already seen all the damage Agatha had done to our back yard.

I followed John B back to the living room. "Hey have you been outside yet?" He asked JJ.

"I have polio bro, I can't walk." he muttered into the cushion as an answer. 

Indi and John B walked outside and looked at the mess that Agatha had done to Outer Banks. A tree had been knocked over across their yard. 

"Agatha did some work huh?" JJ asked as he joined the siblings outside. 

"Yeah she did." John B answered. Indi looked over at JJ and saw how he was already holding a can of beer early in the morning.

"You're drinking already?" She asked the blonde. 

"You want some?" He smirked and held out the beer to her. She rolled her eyes and followed her brother who was taking off branches of the HMS Pogue. 

"Whatcha thinking?" JJ asked, joining the siblings again.

"I'm thinking that storm surge pushed all the crabs out on the marsh maze. All the drum are gonna chase the crab" John B said.

"What about DCS? Wasn't that today?" JJ asked.

"Nah, they're not getting on a ferry." Indi said.

"Come on, think about it, it's God telling us to fish!" John B said.

"Alright I'm in, I'll go get ready." Indi turned around and walked back into the house to go put on her swimsuit. 

"Bro" John B threw a branch at JJ, "stop starring at my sister!" John B had noticed JJ looking at his sister as she had walked back to the house with a devilish grin.

"What? I can't help it!" he tried to defend himself.

Once Indiana had finished getting ready, they all got into the HMS Pogue and headed off to pick up Pope and Kie. Indi had made herself comfortable at the front of the boat where she was trying to get tanned as JJ and John B talked about random stuff. 

"Hi Miss Amy! You guys get through it?" John B questioned.

"Still here." Miss Amy shouted back.

"She totally looked at me" JJ smirked. 

"I saw it" John B agreed.

"You wish" Indi said from the front of the boat. JJ looked up from the steering wheel, at the front of the boat where the Routledge girl was tanning in her bikini. 

"Dude, I told you to stop starring at my sister!" Indi heard John B whisper to JJ. A smirk plastered on her face as she stood up to join them.

"We're gonna be cleaning this all summer." She mumbled with a quiet groan.

"Don't worry, I will keep you company." JJ smirked at Indi.

"Not gonna happen." John B slapped JJ's arm playfully as he pulled up to Pope's deck. "Well look who we have here" he continued. " We have a safety meeting. Attendance mandatory." He said in a static voice, over to Pope, who was currently cleaning the dock.

"I can't. My Pop's got me on lockdown." Pope said. Indi smiled and gave a small wave as she saw Heyward making his way down the dock. 

"Your dad's a pussy. Over." JJ said, mimicking the same static voice as John B had just done. 

"Oh I heard that you little bastard." Heyward said to JJ.

"We need your son." Indi told him.

"Yeah and island rules, day after a hurricane is a free day." JJ continued. He walked over to Indi and wrapped his arm around her waist.

"Who the hell made that up?" Heyward questioned, clearly not believing JJ.

"Pentagon I think" JJ said looking down at Indi for conformation, "Yeah we even have security clearance. JJ has a card." she pointed to JJ.

"You think I'm stupid?" Heyward questioned.

"I'll do it tomorrow. I promise. Tomorrow." Pope begged him.

"No. Hell no. You're doing it right now." Heyward demanded.

"Get in the boat." My brother whispered and motioned with his head that he should jump in.

"Make a run for it." JJ added. Pope looked from his father back to his friends before jumping into the HMS Pogue.

"Boy, if you don't get out right now" Heyward jelled at his son in the boat.

"I promise I'll do it tomorrow dad. I promise" Pope said as John B drove the boat away from the deck. 

"I'll even help him!" Indi told Heyward. She often helped out at the store and didn't mind it. 

"When you get back you're gonna clean shrimp, you're gonna clean fish." 

"Love you Pops." Pope shouted.

"You'll clean your dirty ass room!" Heyward shouted.

"Eww Pope, you should really clean your dirty ass room" Indi joked.

"And I don't like your friends" Heyward continued to shout, as the four started to laugh. 

"Let's get Kie" Indi said as she sat down on the edge of the boat with her feet dangling over the edge. 

"Oh, top of the morning to ya." JJ said with a fake Irish accent. Kiara was walking down to the deck with a cooler in her hands.

"Morning boys and Ind" Kie said walking down to them.

"Whatcha got? You got some juice boxes?" Pope questioned her.

"You know, just some yogurts and carrot sticks." Kie smirked. 

"How about my kind of juice boxes?" JJ asked as he held his hand out to her to help her into the boat. 

"Yeah." Kie replied. Indi got up to give her best friend a hug. They opened the cooler and Kie handed them all a beer as John B drove the boat down into the marsh.
