INDIANA II JJ Maybank (Outerbanks)

chapter five

As they arrived at the coast guard, JJ and John B had went inside the packed tent to inform the coast guard about the Grady White they had found.

Indi, Kie and Pope had stayed outside. Kie and Pope were having a conversation about god knows what as Indi just starred into the blue, deep in her thoughts.

Her thoughts were interrupted as she saw Rafe, Topper and Kelce further away from the dock. Her eyes were watching carefully at what they were doing.

Rafe looked up and as he saw Indi watching him, he sent her a small wave so nobody would notice. But Kie had seen it.

"No way, please don't tell me you were with him last night?" She asked Indi, because she had noticed her friend starring at the Kooks.

"No of course not!" She lied. She still had to come up with a good lie about where she had been last night.

"Then why did he just wave at you?" She asked her.

"Who waved at who?" John B asked as he came out of the tent followed by JJ.

"Rafe waved at Indi." Pope told him.

"Well it better have been a misunderstanding." JB said before making his way back to their boat. She looked up at JJ who looked in Rafe's direction with a clenched jaw before he scoffed and made his way back to the boat. He didn't like when other boys looked at Indi because he wanted her all to himself, but he was too scared to tell her that.

"So what's the plan?" Pope asked.

"I know how we're gonna find out the guy who owns that boat." John B said making Pope shake his head.

"No. We don't know whose room that is. It could be anyone." Pope panicked, he didn't want to risk losing his scholarship.

"I'm in." JJ said as he took the keys and threw them at Kie.

"Come on. I'll be lookout." Kie said trying to convince Pope to come with them.

"Finders fee. Just saying." John B said. "And hey at least you will only be an accomplice." 

Pope groaned. He knew there was no way in getting around this and followed the four.

They sailed the boat to the motel that's name was on the key. The motel definitely had a lot of damage from the hurricane.

"This place is a shit show." John B said.

"Hotel or meth lab?" Kie asked us.

"Both." Indi spoke for the first time since the deck.

"Doesn't look like a place someone with a Grady White would stay." Kie said.

"No more likely a place where someone with a Grady White would get killed." Indi corrected her.

JJ jumped off the boat and tied it up. Indi followed him with also jumping off the boat and waited for her brother beside JJ.

"You're not coming with us." John B told her and motioned with his hands that she should get back on the boat.

"Yes I am," she said. "I'm not a baby anymore!" She was sick and tired over her brother always making decisions for her. John B knew, they would jut lose time if he would argue with her so he decided to let her come.

"Hey," Pope yelled to John B, "Don't let them make anything stupid!" He said as he pointed towards JJ and Indiana.

"I'm not making any promises." He told Pope.

"Yeah I know." Pope muttered.

Kie walked over to John B. And told him to be safe. Me and JJ exchanged glances at Kiara's actions.
