chapter twenty two

Indi had went to her room to change into a dry pair of bikini to have under her clothes. She knew that the group would meet up afterwards to go surfing but didn't want to deliver groceries for Heyward in wet clothes.

As she had put on dry clothes, she walked out and found her brother in the backyard looking at the map they had found at the graveyard.

"Here's somebody I haven't talked to in a while." Indi smiles at her brother and sits down in a chair next to him. "How are you?"

"I got fired." He looks down. "And I had to give dads compass to Peterkin."

"What? Are you alright?" She asked concerned.

"Yeah I guess, I just have to figure out how we'll afford food now." He gave her a small smile.

"Don't worry about it, I will just ask Mr. Carrera for more shifts." She puts her hand comfortingly on his thigh. "We will figure it out, we always have."

"But I'm the one that's supposed to take care of you not the other way around. Dad would have been disappointed in me." He sighs.

"Don't ever say that. He could never have been disappointed in you. He would be so proud and so am I." She squeezes his thigh. "Now find out where this gold is and I will see you later."

"Thank you Indi. Dad would have been proud of you too." He smiles at her.

Indi stands up and starts to make her way over to Heyward. She sees Sarah Cameron making her way over in her direction and rolls her eyes.

She hated Sarah Cameron. Not only for what she had done to Kie but also for the way she would be mean to Indi when they were younger.

They used to go to the same elementary school before the Kooks and Pogues got split up to go to Kook Academy and Kildare County High School.

She used to push her on the playground and tell the other kids that she would stink and be weird. Until John B introduced her too JJ and he told her to fight back. Since JJ had been by her side she didn't dare to say anything again.

"Watch it bitch." She nudged against her shoulder in purpose. "You better get the hell off our side of the island."

Sarah just gave her a dirty look but didn't dare to say something back. Indi walked over to Heywards and saw that he was giving Pope and JJ bags of groceries to put in the boat.

"Hello Heyward." She waves at him.

"Oh Indi, thank you for helping me out." He smiles at her and hands her bags, which she went to put in boat.

"You boys get these groceries over to Figure Eight. Get straight back here when you're done. No fishing." Heyward tells them.

"I promised delivery by this afternoon. Rich folks don't wanna wait for you lazy sons of.." He turns around and sees JJ already holding his arms out.

"Oh, JJ, thank you." He hands him the bags. "...sons of bitches."

"Right." Pope mumbles.

"Aye aye captain." Indi tells him as Pope starts the boat so they can drive to Figure Eight.

"Doesn't even look like the storm hit there." Pope says as he looks at the houses in Figure Eight.

"That's because they got generators, bro. Get used to it." JJ says.

"And then they say the the power will be gone all summer on the cut." Indi sighs.

"It's nice to be a Kook."

"Lucky bastards."

Pope docks the boat and looks at the list to where they have to deliver groceries.
