chapter sixteen : neon blue

She stayed silent. I probably got it wrong. But I swear, when Vanille left when we were kids.. That's the exact thing she said to me. That's the exact same voice that said it. Except its more mature..

Kat looked at Takahashi, her eyes went red. And she disappeared. I just sat there. I couldn't believe it.. I think Hero Kat is Vanille Ito.

It was silent for like a minute. I just stayed sitting there looking where she used to be.

" Dude.. " The silence was broken by Hestia speaking. Hestia was alright, but her mouth was full of blood and she had a nose bleed. She got blood all over her shirt.

I stayed silent.

" So you guys do know each other. " Takahashi continued to break the silence. He was already healed by Easdale when Hestia and I were trying to fight Hero Kat.

" You good enough to explain or are you traumatized right now? " Luke asked. He was already healed as well. Everyone was still on the sidewalk. I was the only one on the road.

" Uhm.. " I spoke again, taking off my mask. " Till I was about eight, or nine. I had a best friend named Vanille. Her parents were convinced she didn't have an ability, because she wasn't getting one.. So they sent her away. And those words.. that Hero Kat said. Were the last words Vanille said to me. Exact same voice. Just more matured. " 

My eyes started to tear up. I wasn't sad or happy- I didn't know what I was feeling. I didn't know if Hero Kat is Vanille. I didn't know if she isn't. 

" Wow. " Hestia broke the silence again. 

" At least we know why she knew your first name. " Luke added.

I stayed silent. I wasn't in the right mind set to answer. I didn't know if I was okay, I didn't know if I wasn't. I couldn't describe my emotions. It felt like I was in such a weird and corrupt nightmare. But I wasn't.

" I think we should take Hills home for the rest of the day, he needs some time to think. " Hestia stood up.

Easdale and Hestia walked over to me. Hestia spit the blood that was in her mouth onto the road.  Hestia stood me up and Easdale cupped my face into her hand, she moved my head around to see if I had any injuries. After Easdale saw I had none she let go of my face. Hestia gestured for Luke to come over to us.

" I feel dizzy.. " I spoke. Which I did. 

Things weren't adding up correctly in my head. If Hero Kat is actually Vanille, I couldn't see it. I always knew Vanille as this caring, and kind person. Now I know she killed and hurt so many people. She hurt Luke and Hestia multiple times. Vanille being Hero Kat just didn't feel right. But I think that was her. How could she go from such a kind person to her now being so violent.

" Uhm, Luke can you fly and hold Carter with you-? " Hestia asked Luke.

" I can fly and take us all to his apartment- " Luke answered.

" Isn't that too much weight for you to carry? " Hestia continued.

" Well- kinda- uhm. Takahashi can teleport you there! " Luke's face lit up with an idea.

" Alright. As soon as you get him to his apartment lay him down on the couch or his bed. He looks messed up. " Hestia spoke again.

I could feel blood start to drip from my nose. I wasn't hurt. Weather maybe was too dry. I was still staring at the ground. Blood dripped onto my hero uniform. Luke put my mask over my nose and just held it there to soak up the blood. He grabbed my arm and flew up into the sky, and then flying into the direction of my apartment.

I could've past out at any moment. And I'm pretty sure I did. I wasn't hurt and I barely did anything. How was I dizzy? And why was I gushing blood from my nose? It almost felt like a fever dream. Like I knew it was reality but it didn't feel like it. My sight would snap out and back to normal again. Like I was passing out then waking up. I was confused because nothing happened to me. 

My eyes shut one more time. And I woke up on my couch, I was sitting up. Luke was holding my back up and holding a bunch of toilet paper to my nose. I could see three other globs of toilet paper in a trashcan next to me. My mom was sitting on the chair next to the couch, she was looking at the ground. Hestia was walking back and fourth in the kitchen.

" He's awake! " Luke spoke, his face lit up. Hestia and my mom both looked at me.

" You feeling better-? " Hestia asked from the kitchen.

" I- kinda-.. " I answered, I was feeling better, but I felt very tired. I still seemed to have blood gushing out of my nose. Or at least that's what I thought because Luke still had a clump of toilet paper on my nose.

" Oh uhm- Are you sure Kat didn't touch you at all-? " Luke asked, still had a clump of toilet paper up to my nose.

" Yeah- She refused to touch me. Like she wouldn't fight me. " I answered.

Luke took another clump of toilet paper from the toilet paper roll. He put it up to my nose and then showed me the one that was previously on my nose. That wasn't my blood. It wasn't even blood. I didn't know if I wanted to scream of how disgusted I was or just faint again.

" I don't think having a glowing neon blue liquid come from your nose is good. Who else could have done this? " Luke asked. He threw the old clump into the garbage can and continued holding the new one on my nose. 

" Kat had to have put some sort of curse on you. There is no way that she didn't do that. Who else would? " Hestia spoke again. 

" Maybe you guys could ask your teacher-? He might know what kind of curse it is. " My mother spoke. She had Basil in her lap. Basil was shaking, I think she was scared.

" I'll call Takahashi then.. " Hestia took her phone out of her pocket and dialed the schools number.

I felt weird. These usually isn't this much drama in any of the missions we ever had. It was us fighting for like an hour or two, and then one of the teams would win. This is literally a fight of like 30 people vs one person. Yet somehow the one person is winning.

I could hear Hestia speak on the phone.

" Hi this is Hamilton, Hestia. I'm looking for the teacher Takahashi. " She spoke.

Hestia had the phone on speaker. So she was just holding the phone in her hand, not near her ear. Hestia was looking at the ground.

" Takahashi isn't in the building right now. I can transfer you to his mobile if this is an emergency Hamilton. " The school's receptionist said over the other line.

" Yes please. " Hestia answered.

Her phone started ringing again. We just assumed it was calling Takahashi's mobile.

" Hello, Takahashi speaking. " Takahashi said over the other line.

" Hey Takahashi, this is Hamilton.. " Hestia answered.

" Wait- Hamilton Hestia-? " Takahashi sounded surprised.

" Yes. " Hestia answered again.

" How do you have my mobile? " Takahashi asked.

" School gave it to me. " Hestia replied.

" That's only if there's an emergency they can do that- " Takahashi sounded slightly angry. I mean if the school gave my mobile phone number to a student who causes a lot of trouble, I would be too. And I mean Hestia. I don't cause trouble.

" Well I think having neon blue liquid gushing out of my friends nose right after he had a non-stop nose bleed, after he tried to fight an enemy which didn't even touch him.. is an emergency. " Hestia giggled. 

" Oh- you means Hills? " Takahashi asked.

" No I mean a pebble. Of course I mean Hills. " Hestia answered.

" Wow. Okay. That sounds a little too familiar. I'll be there shortly. " Takahashi sounded angry. Like very angry. He hung up the phone.

" Either he knows who cursed Carter and is angry at them, or he's angry at me. Either way, someone is dying today. " Hestia spoke. She walked into the living room and sat at the side of the couch Luke and I weren't on.

" Lets hope its the first one. " I answered.

" This Hero Kat girl seems pretty violent. " My mom commented. She was petting Basil. Basil was still shivering in my moms lap. 

There was a loud pound at the door. I almost forgot Takahashi can teleport. My mom sat up, she put Basil on Hestia's lap. Basil climbed on Hestias chest and sat there. My mom walked to the door and opened it to let in Takahasi. But he wasn't alone.
