chapter nineteen : 'kat' explained

I was surprised she answered. I didn't think she would actually accept it. Vanille probably only excepted because Easdale would be there.

" I can teleport us all but I can only do three beings at a time. " Takahashi spoke. " Get ready to be teleported. "

First he teleported Hestia, my mother, and Basil. Than Luke, Easdale and Vanille. Than lastly he teleported himself and I.

It was my first time ever being teleported. Like, ever. It was like falling through a bright neon endless pit, for what feels like forever. To the point where you need to throw up. But the teleportation only lasts for a second. 

Than Takahashi teleported clothing from Lukes house and my house for us to change, since we till in hero uniform. Hestia and Takahashi's uniforms look like normal clothing. Easdale lives there so shes fine, and Vanille was already wearing normal clothes. Including my mother.

As soon as we got there, Easdale led me to the bathroom so I could puke.

" Its okay Hills. Most people get sick when they're being teleported. " Easdale patted my back as I puked into their toilet. 

" Uhm, Is it supposed to be bloody? " I asked, pointing at my puke. 

" Not usually, but your puking blood right now because of Vanille ripping your heart out of your body. Your veins are still merging together. I put them together for the most part, but they need to heal fully. " Easdale explained. I just nodded and puked again.

After about ten or fifteen minutes of me puking up blood, I was finally finished. I got up, Easdale left out to go see the group. I washed my hands and splashed cold water on my face. This would be the first time I actually hangout with Vanille in eight years. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get along. When your a child you only have friends because you're both children. But Vanille and I both have personalities now so things might not be like old times.

I took the clothes that Takahashi teleported for me, it was just a white t-shirt and blue jeans. I changed into that because I didn't wanna be in my hero uniform.

I walked out, to see everyone just sitting in the living room and talking. Vanille was the only one not talking. She was just sitting on the couch. Staring at the ground. Easdale was sitting at one of the corners of the couch, Hestia was laying down and had her head in Easdales lap. Luke was sitting at the top of the couch so he wasn't sitting on Hestia's legs. I could see he changed into black ripped jeans and a white Taiyo hoodie. Takahashi was just sitting in another chair.

Everyone was there, except my mom and Basil.

" Hey, wheres my mom? " I asked.

" Your mother went to one of the guest rooms to go down for the night. She took Basil with her. " Takahashi explained.

" Oh alright. " I answered. I walked toward the couch and sat on the floor on front of Hestia and Easdale.

" Okay everyone. " Takahashi stood up and stood on front of the couch. " Because I don't trust teenagers, Hamilton, Vanille and Emily, you guys sleep in Emily's room. "

" Aye aye captain. " Easdale chuckled. Takahashi rolled his eyes and chuckled.

"  Hills and Howler, you two in the other guest bedroom since we have two. If anything is wrong, my bedroom is right across the hall. " Takahashi explained. " You guys can stay up as long as you want, just after 11pm don't be too loud. I'm going to go work now, so goodnight children. " 

Takahashi walked to his room.

" Anyone up for a game of truth or dare? " Hestia asked. 

" I'm down. " I turned around and backed up so I was facing everyone else.

" Yeah lets play. " Luke smiled.

Easdale looked at Vanille.

" You in? " Easdale asked.

There was a few seconds of silence. Vanille sighed.

" Sure. " A tiny smile came onto Vanilles face. She noticed quickly and frowned again.

" I'll go first! Uhm, Luke. truth or dare. " Hestia asked. She was still laying on Easdales lap.

" Dare. Definitely dare. " Luke chuckled.

" I dare you to climb onto the roof of the house and then scream anything you want. " Hestia laughed.

" Challenge accepted brother! " Luke happily jumped off the couch and went to the front door. Everyone got up and followed him outside. 

This was the first time we were seeing Takahashi's house. His house was huge. I always heard that teachers don't make a lot of pay but, I guess Takahashi is also a hero and trainer at Taiyo so I wouldn't actually be surprised if he made a lot of money.

" Wait can I fly or do I have to climb? " Luke turned to Hestia.

" Climb. And if you fall you fly back up. " Hestia smiled.

Hestia and Easdale we're standing very close to each other. Both their arms were behind their backs. Almost like they could be holding hands?

" Fine. " Luke chuckled.

We all had a short time where we were little, where we didn't know how to control our abilities. Before Luke found out how to fly, he always climbed things. Like, a lot. So he can just climb almost everything. Gutters to a tree with no branches. 

Luke started to climb a pillar by the front door, followed by him climbing onto the bricks and slowly making his way to the roof.

But than, he missed a brick with his foot, and fell. But he knew he wasn't aloud to fly, so he didn't. But instead, Vanille flew toward him and caught him. She put him on the ground safely so he didn't get hurt.

" Okay, what even is your ability? It's like you have all of them. " Luke asked Vanille. He looked very puzzled.

" Its complicated. " Vanille went back to standing with Hestia, Easdale, and I. Vanille was standing beside Easdale and I.

I nudged Vanilles side.

" I'm finally taller. " I chuckled. Like I mentions before, I'm 6'1 (ft). Vanille was about 5'6 (ft). 

" Oh shut up. " Vanille smiled and punched me in the arm.

" Ow. " I jokingly said. Her punch obviously didn't hurt me. Just us making eye contact and seeing her smile again after eight years made me realize. I got one of my best friends back.

After a while of watching Luke climb up Takahashi's house and violently screaming for 30 seconds, we played more truth or dare. It went by quickly. The most I could recap, was Easdale got dared to do a back flip (which she succeeded), I got dared by Luke to kiss someone in the group. I knew he wanted me to kiss Hestia, but I didn't. I grabbed a pillow beside me and kissed that. And Vanille got dared to show us her ability, So she just made eye contact with me, her eyes turned red, and she flew Luke across the room. All he got was a nose bleed so he's okay.

It was around 2 am. We've been playing truth or dare for so long, but it never got boring. We were all in the guest room that Luke and I were sleeping in that night. Hestia and Easdale were laying on the bed together, facing us. Vanille, Luke and I were sitting on the floor at the foot of the bed.

" Okay so, Vanille. Truth or dare. " I asked, looking at Vanille.

" Hmm, truth. " She answered.

" Explain your ability. Like no one here knows what you can do. " I chuckled.

" Okay fine. " Vanille smiled. " I can steal other peoples abilities. "

" I CALLED IT! " Luke yelled, we all shushed him.

" Continue. " I smiled at Vanille.

" Okay, " Vanille laughed. " So the reason why it seems like I have several abilities, is because my ability is to steal others. Like when I made eye contact with Carter earlier to make Luke fly across the room, that was actually me stealing his telekinesis. Same with how when I broke Luke, that's why we couldn't fly. "

" Than why is your hero name Kat? " Hestia asked.

" Well, its like Copy Cat. Like I'm copying your ability. I was going to make it Copy Cat at first, but that made it too obvious. So I just made it Cat, but replaced the C with a K. " Vanille shrugged. 

" Wow. " Luke chuckled.

" What about when we were kids and your parents thought you didn't have powers? " I replied.

" Oh, yeah no they didn't think that. They just didn't wanna take care of me because uh, you know. " Vanille gestured toward her blue streaks. " I lived in a blue streaks home till I was fourteen. "

" I've been lied to all my life. " I chuckled. Vanille laughed at my joke.

" Okay uh, Hestia. Truth or dare. " Vanille looked at Hestia.

" Hmm, " Hestia thought for a few seconds. " Truth. Why not. " 

" I don't know what to think of so, whats a secret barely anyone knows about. " Vanille chuckled.

" You know, I wasn't planning on telling you guys but I mean, you're all my friends. " Hestia smiled.

We all looked at her confused.

" Sorry to crush your dreams Luke. " Hestia chuckled, she than leaned over and kissed Easdale. On the lips.

I was happy for them. But what made me the most happy? This will mean students won't ship Hestia and me anymore.
