chapter eighteen : my blue and bitten heart

" Emily- why are you here-? " Asked Kat. Yes. Kat answered the door. Maybe- she lives with a blue streak?

But then I got a closer look, Kat wasn't wearing her beanie. And her hair was showing. Two blue streaks at the front of her head. But if she was actually Vanille, does that mean Vanille was a blue streak?

" Uhm, I know you didn't want me to do it but he wouldn't leave you alone- " Easdale was explaining.

" What!? " Kat yelled. She didn't seem angry, she seemed more annoyed. " I told you not to hurt him! " 

" I'm sorry- it's just- can you help save him-? " Easdale gulped.

" I-... " Kat hesitated. " I can't let them know I'm a blue streak. That will make them want to target me even more. You remember how scared I was just that I caused half the Tsuki team to go into hospitals. " 

" Please Vanille. He won't tell anyone else. And you know I'll heal him right after. " Easdale begged. So case closed, Kat was definitely Vanille. 

Kat sighed.

" Fine. Are you with anyone else or is it just Carter? " Kat asked.

" Takahashi, Hes- Hamilton, Howler, and Hills's mother. " Easdale spoke.

" Wow. Okay uhm, did you tell them only blue streaks can heal him-? " Kat asked again,

" Yeah.. Look, maybe if you join Taiyo, you wouldn't have to be scared you'll get hurt. " Easdale explained to Kat.

" Are you crazy? Dude you know I can't join. " Kat looked at Easdale.

I could tell time was running out. My heart was pounding. I felt like I could faint at any moment. But if I did, I knew it wouldn't be fainting.. It would be dying.

" Times running out- " Words left my mouth. I couldn't finish a whole sentence I was in so much pain. I was starting to feel my insides being moved around. 

" EASDALE! " Takahashi screamed, Easdale looked alarmed. She grabbed Kat's hand and ran her to where we were. Kat just stood there, and looked at me in shock.

" I'm sorry.. " Easdale looked at me.

Everyone already saw Kat. We all knew she was a blue streak now. But she looked uncomfortable to be there.

Kat opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out.

" Hero Kat, hurry please. Please save Hills. We don't know whats happening but I don't think he can last much longer. " Takahashi explained.

Kat sighed, she looked anxious, very worried.

" Alright. " Kat's voice ringed in my ears.

But not in a bad way. I knew she was Vanille. But stuff still wasn't clicking. She changed, so much. It was hard to believe it was her. Her voice sounded the same, except more mature. 

" Okay. Put him on the ground. " Kat looked at Luke.

Luke nodded and sat me on the ground, I was leaning against a building beside us. I knew I had to do this so I didn't die, but I was scared. I mean who wouldn't be scared when they have to have their heart ripped out of their body and put back in.

Kat leaned down on one knee. She put one of her hands on my shoulder, and the other hand hovering over where my heart is.

" Okay, Carter, I think you know well this is going to hurt. " Kat explained.

Her being closer to me, I could definitely see she was Vanille. She had the exact same scar on her cheek, exact same freckle placements, exact same eye colour. 

" I'm going to count to three, " Kat's eyes changed from light blue to neon red. " And I'll rip your heart out and put it back in after three alright? " 

I nodded. I felt to weak to talk.

" 1.. "

My muscles tightened up, it felt like I had growing pains all over my body.

" 2.. "

And then I felt a rip. I screamed of pain. Probably the whole city could hear me. Blood started to drip from my mouth. I could see my own, still beating, heart. With little blue dots all over it. It was hard to breathe. Kat wasn't holding it, but she was lifting it with telekinesis. I don't know how many abilities she has.

Kat shook my heart and the tiny blue things splattered on the ground. I looked down in the hole in my chest and millions, millions of those things came out of me. It wasn't even painful. Kat pushed my heart back into my body, her eyes turned back to light blue, she looked over at Easdale. Her eyes turned neon red again, Kat hovered her hand over the hole and started healing me. And of course, I screamed again. I mean, its painful having your broken skin, ribs, and veins assemble back together after they were just broken.

When she finished, Kat just sat down on the ground. Her eyes went light blue again.

I just sat there. I wasn't in pain anymore. But my insides felt weird. There was neon blue dots all over the ground. 

Kat's hand was covered in blood. The patch of skin I had ripped apart was covered in blood as well, except the new skin that came to heal me was fine. But now I had a giant hole in my hero uniform, and that wasn't very fun.

" Alright, I'm leaving. " Kat stood up and tried to leave, but Easdale grabbed her. Easdale kinda hugged her by the neck so Kat couldn't go.

" Not so fast. " Easdale replied.

" Why, what do you want from me. " Kat looked tired.

" You have some explaining to do. This including Carter. " Easdale answered.

" Yes, this is a great opportunity for you two to explain what happened earlier today. " Takahashi answered.

Luke helped me up again. Hestia also helped. They both put my arms around them so I could stand properly. My nose stopped running of those blue demon things. Except it was bleeding a little again. We didn't really care though. My costume was already ruined, so it's fine if I bleed all over it too.

I stayed silent.

" Well I'm pretty sure Carter knows what this is about. He knows my name. " Kat looked at me.

" Vanille Ito. " I spoke, my voice was still slightly raspy.

" See? Can I go now. " Kat, or who I should start calling Vanille, tried squeezing out of Easdales arms, but Easdale wouldn't let her go.

" Well if we're going off what Carter said earlier, why wouldn't you want to join Taiyo? Your childhood best friend is in it. You would have already known two people. Easdale and Carter. " Hestia spoke.

Vanille sighed.

" This is why. " Vanille lifted one of her blue streaks. " I don't like when people find out I'm a blue streak, because then I get used. All blue streaks know that fantasies without blue streaks like using us. I got used with Tsuki. What would be different here? " 

" I wouldn't let Taiyo use you. I know you're way more then just your powers. " I spoke, I wanted to go to sleep. I was tired.

" Neither would I. You're my sister. " Easdale replied.

" I'm having a hard time believing that. " Vanille answered.

She made eye contact with Takahashi, her eyes turned neon red. She teleported beside Easdale and her eyes went light blue again.

" Goodnight. " Vanille stomped off toward her house again.

" Wait! " Hestia yelled. She ducked under my arm that she was holding and ran after Hestia. 

" UGHH. " Vanille yelled, she seemed annoyed.

Hestia caught up to Vanille, she grabbed Vanilles shoulder and turned her around.

" What is it now? I'm tired and I want to go to bed. " Vanille complained.

" Well, you just met your childhood friend again after like eight years. So why not hangout with Carter, Luke, and I at his place? " Hestia asked.

It was like she read my mind. If Vanille spent time with us maybe she would grow a reason to trust us.

" I think that's a great idea. " Takahashi spoke up. " We can host this sleepover at my house. I wouldn't want you all stuffing up Ms. Hills apartment. "

" Oh it's nothing Sir Takahashi, " My mother spoke up. I almost forgot she was there. She was still holding Basil. Tanaka would be asleep so we couldn't have left Basil with her.

" No I insist. We have two guest bedrooms. Even your dog can come. " Takahashi answered.

" I'm up for it. " Luke smiled.

" Same. " I chuckled. Everyone looked at Vanille.

" So, what do you say? " Hestia spoke.

Vanille took a deep breath.

" Fine. But if any of you try anything, I'll kill you in a heartbeat. "
