Everyone saw the Akatsuki as an organization filled with beyond dangerous criminals and murderous intent, which they were in public.

But inside the base, you knew they were just a bunch emotionally stunted, dysfunctional adults who needed cuddles every once in a while.

That's where you came in. You weren't a shinobi, not by a long shot, but Pein had recruited you to boost morales.

Whether it was listening to them vent, letting them hold you, or simply baking a little here and there, whatever it was, you were fully invested in giving these people the love they deserved.

                                          O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O

As of right now, you found yourself watching Kakuzu count money from his lap. Hidan, the pompous idiot that he could be, had been mouthing off to the long-haired man the entire day and you could see how tense he was from a mile away.

He'd murmured a small 'thank you' and continued his work, not that you minded. It was interesting to watch him, he was always so focused and it seemed working with money calmed him down.

"'Kuzu?" His eyes flicked down to you before going back to his desk. "Yes?" You watched as he stacked the quarters neatly. "Why'd they pair you with Hidan if all you two do is fight?" He cracked a smile small, but it was gone as quickly as it appeared.

"Hidan was nowhere near being my first partner, the other ones... died." You deadpanned. "You killed your partners?" He shrugged. "They got in the way. So Pein decided that that wasn't acceptable, so he gave me that Jashin obsessed idiot."

You smirked, knowing he probably regretted killing the others. "Yeah, yeah, I do regret it. Anyone is better than Hidan." You laughed, nodding against his chest. "That's for sure."

                                             O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O

"Silence, before you wake her up." Your eyes blinked open, confused at all the new voices.

The last thing you remember was falling asleep on the couch with your book, so where had all these people come from?

When your vision cleared, you were mildly surprised to have your head in Pein's lap, the rest of the Akatsuki on the surrounding furniture.

"Pein? What's going on?" You rubbed your eyes sleepily, still unsure of what was going on.

"We didn't mean to wake you up, (Y/N), but we are gathered to have a meeting." You flushed realizing you were interrupting a rare and important moment.

"S-sorry!" You sat up, but an arm around your waist ceased your movement. You gasped lightly as the orange-haired man kept you in place.

"Stay, if you please. This is comfortable." You offered a small smile before settling down again, with his hand resting on your head, to listen to the proceedings.

No one mentioned it, probably because Pein could be scary when he wanted to, and the meeting continued as if nothing had happened.

                         O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O

You sighed, slightly exasperated as you dangled over Hidan's shoulder, swaying from side to side as he carried you down the hall.

"Hidan. I can walk you know." He shrugged, smirking. You groaned. "Where are we going?!"

"I found a sacrifice and I saw that you weren't doing anything so I decided you should come with me." This wasn't the first time the Jashinist had dragged you to one of his rituals, and although you weren't a shinobi, the excessive amounts of gore he created didn't much bother you. Much.
