The scenario from my draft that inspired 'Headcanons With A Short S/O'

You silently fumed as you looked up at your favorite book. It had been placed on the highest shelf in your and Kakashi's shared home. At the painfully short height of 5'1 (154 cm), you were no match for the shelf, even with a chair. What was the point of even having a shelf this high?!

You had just gotten to the climax, the best part of the book, too. Now there was no way to find out what happened until Kakashi got home. Kakashi. He was so much taller than you and would never let you forget it.

Bothersome short jokes, placing things up high (like your books), treating you like glass, and overall making you self conscious. You knew he wasn't purposely trying to make you feel this way, but regardless, it was bothering you more than you cared to admit.

You were the butt of many jokes as a kid, seeing as you were the shortest everywhere you went. However, after proving yourself as a talented kunoichi your self-esteem issues faded away. Then once you had become a well respected Jonin, no one mentioned your height. Except for Kakashi.

You didn't much feel like cooking right now, too dejected to put your energy into it. Instead, you decided to pick up something before the silver-haired ninja got home. You could use the walk and fresh air anyway. Maybe it'd help soothe your bad mood.

~~~La Time Skip Thanks To Sukea Having Lunch With Kakashi~~~
You just went for simple at Ichiraku's ramen shop. "Hey, (Y/N), what'll it be for today?" You grinned at the owner, Teuchi. "Just two large ramen bowls, one miso, and one chicken, please." He nodded, moving towards the back. "Coming right up, little lady!"
You knew he probably wasn't referring to your height, but still, your mood soured a bit more. A few minutes of (sulking) waiting later, your take out bag was placed in front of you. "Here you go!" Smiling lightly, you handed him the due money. "Thank you!" You headed out, happy your apartment was only a few blocks away.
It was a quiet evening, only a few others milling about. It really was what you needed right now. By the time you had reached your door, a smile had worked it's way on your face.
You unlocked your door and shrieked. Kakashi was towering over you, mere inches from you. "K-Kashi! You're home early..." You desperately didn't want to be angry, but you couldn't stop the frustration from bubbling up inside.
"Hey, (Y/N/N). I was going to surprise you, but I guess you had the same idea." He smiled, gesturing to the takeout. He leaned down, leaving a soft kiss on your forehead. You smiled a bit closing the door behind you.
His arms wrapped around you, pressing your back to his front. "Oh, someone's clingy today." You smirked. He nuzzled your neck with his nose, chuckling softly. "I missed you, baby," He whispered. You placed your hands over his. "Same here, Kashi... but I have, uh, to tell you something."
He let go of you, concern on his face. "What's wrong?" You exhaled, lining up your words. "My book... I was really looking forward to reading it and-" A relieved smile overtook his face. "Oh, that's all? I could get it d-" You shook your head. "You're not understanding me, Kakashi." He turned, giving you his undivided attention, now leaning against the counter.
"I-It's not fun being short. In fact, I hate it. I used to get teased a lot about it. I know you're not trying to be mean spirited, but it makes me feel helpless when you put things too high up for me to reach... and you're always teasing me about it. I know it's dumb, but I can't handle it anymore!"
Kakashi's face instantly fell as you finished your spiel. "(Y/N), baby, that's not dumb at all, I-" His voice hitched a bit and he cleared it. "I'm so sorry. I didn't even realize how you felt..." His arms encircled you, hugging you tightly to his chest.
"I know it's not an excuse, but... you're so independent- which is a good thing!- it's just sometimes I want you to ask for help or rely on me, even if it's just as simple as me grabbing things for you." Your fists tightly clenched the front of his shirt as he pulled you closer.
"I'm sorry too, Kashi, I'll try to tone down my 'I can do everything on my own' attitude." He chuckled lightly, kissing your temple. "And I'll stop with the short jokes and the like. But I think you should know I find your height absolutely adorable."
You laughed, pulling him to the table. "Thank you, Kakashi. Now let's eat!"
