It was no secret that you and Sasuke were less than friends. Ever since you had beat him at a sparring match during your academy days he had been out to get you. You hadn't quite seen him as a rival, you had transferred from Kirigakure during your last academy year and leagues ahead of just about everyone. Uchiha Sasuke included. You had been placed on your own Genin team so your interactions were limited, but still, he managed to corner you and demand to fight you. You soon began to adopt the habit and whenever you saw him, a fight would most certainly ensue.
The results always varied, and no one was ever sure who would win. He didn't like that. You didn't care. You happened to enjoy the sparring sessions the two of you had. The challenge was refreshing and he possessed witty, dry humor that always made you laugh.
It clearly wasn't the same for him. He hardly cracked a smile at your attempts at humor, and if you dared to tease him about a loss he never failed to storm away, Sharingan flashing.
It bothered you. He only saw you as a rival, a mere obstacle to surpass on his quest for revenge. It bothered you because you saw him as so much more. A friend, a companion, someone who challenged you, mind, body, and spirit.
It didn't matter though. You knew he didn't care anything about you. You made yourself scarce. You found yourself a new person to challenge to fights. You gradually withdrew from Sasuke's life until you never saw him.
Sasuke, as smart as he was, could be something of a dunce sometimes. It took him about a month and a half of your unusual absence to realize that you were actively avoiding him. He was a little confused, and he would never admit it, but hurt as well.
You were someone who had the same drive as he did, you were different than the others. He had gotten used to your company, you were a constant in his very inconsistent life.
Then suddenly you had dropped off the map. It was unlike you. He was always pushing you away, bordering on cold, but you had never left like this. Could that be the reason you had vanished... had he done this?
He pushed the thought aside, these feelings were too much to deal with. He figured you would eventually come around, but if not he could always find you. He decided to trust that you'd come back. Except... you didn't...
It had been about three months since you'd last seen the Uchiha and you had thrown yourself into missions and training. You were a little upset that he didn't care, but it was for the best. It was a toxic friendship and you realized that with the way he was, it would never progress past that. That sentiment didn't make it easier, however.
"Oi, (Y/N/N)!" Your head snapped up and you saw Naruto running towards you, an expression of pure glee on his face. He skidded to a stop, right before he slammed into you. "Hey, Naruto, what's up?" He snickered, just grabbing your hand and dragging you down the street."H-hey! I was training, what are you-" He waved a hand cutting you off. "Just wait and see, 'ttebayo!" You sighed, conceding, and picked up your pace so you could keep up.
Hopefully, he wasn't trying to prank someone. The last time you helped him, you ended up having to help clean the whole academy.
You blinked in surprise as you reached his house. "W-what? Why are we here?" You'd been to his house a few times, but Naruto was generally pretty wary of letting people into his space. "Just go!"
You yelped as he shoved you in the door and slammed it loudly behind you. "What the- Naruto Uzumaki, let me out now!" You banged on the door, and the sound drowned out the approaching footsteps.
"(Y/N)...?" You whipped around, your blood running cold. In front of you, much to your shock was Sasuke. And he did not look happy. Naruto was going to face your wrath if you managed to get out of this.
