You eyed Asuma and Kurenai's cups of sake in disdain as they joked and slurred and ordered bottle after bottle. You disdainfully glared at the whole establishment, to be frank.Everything about bars and alcohol left a pit of despair and dread in your stomach that was impossible to ignore.
The power couple had dragged you here with the promise of helping you make a plan to confess to Kakashi. They claimed they knew best since he was their friend and everything. So far they'd done nothing but gossip and drunkenly profess their love for each other.
You'd long ago given up hope of discussing your predicament, but still, you stayed because they were in no condition to walk home, or anywhere, for that matter. However, you were at your wit's end with them and were seriously considering leaving them here.
"Oi, (Y/N)! Loosen up a little, have some!" You recoiled, immediately nauseous, as Asuma shoved his cup of beer in your face, some of it sloshing onto your shirt. You frowned dangerously as you snapped.
"I have to go," You muttered, grabbing your things. You ignored their slurred protests and stormed out the doors of the bar, just wanting to go home.
Alcohol never failed to bring up memories of losing your mother to extreme alcohol addiction.
You had loved her, you still did, but just the smell of the bitter drinks reminded you of all the nights were her beverages were the only edible thing in your home. The nights you spent alone why she drank her sorrows away.
So lost in your forlorn thoughts, you hardly noticed the tears streaming down your cheeks or the body coming in your direction. You were jolted out of your reverie when familiar, calloused hands came down on your shoulders, stopping you in your tracks.
"(Y/N)? What are you doing, you nearly walked into- Woah, are you okay?" Your head snapped up, stunned to see the very man that had prompted you to accept Asuma and Kurenai's invite.
"K-Kakashi? I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going..." You trailed off, cheeks red at the fact that Kakashi still had you in his grasp. He didn't seem to notice, or if he did he didn't care at least, opting to search your expression looking for a tell.
"It's fine. C'mon, I'll walk you home." You were about to stutter out a protest, but it died on your tongue when his hand enveloped yours. You ducked your head, avoiding his concern filled glances as you wiped your face of the tears.
"What's going on, (Y/N)? You were crying." Kakashi was well aware of your past with your mother and her passing, he was one of your closest friends, after all, but still... there was trying to stop you from telling him.
A small whimper escaped your lips as more traitorous tears spilled over. Instantly, the silverette stopped walking, pulling you into his chest.
"Hey, hey, don't cry, (Y/N). I don't know what's going on, but whatever it is, I'm here for you. You don't have to tell me what's wrong, but I'll always be your shoulder to cry on because I love you."
