Those Two Love It

I rarely drive a car, unless I am by myself, or if it is Helen and I. Nakoma drives me in her 'new' car on her new drivers' license. Morgan drives me in her Miata or her Ram. Jessica drives me when we are in her Honda. I think if I went anywhere with Vera, she would drive her beloved Buick.

Since we are towing a Fifth-wheel, I am happy to not be driving. Morgan has all the experience with that, and with her massive Ram truck.

Morgan would never have bought this truck without Helen and Jessica telling her to get the very best truck to tow our RV with. Helen being a gods knows how many Billionaire could not care less about a truck that costs less than one hundred grand. She wanted lengthy trips to be comfortable. With four adults and three children, we barely fit. With Nakoma and Angel, the next family trip is going to be two cars. Jessica wanted the tow to be as safe as it could be so she made sure Morgan uprated everything to maximum capacities, and also she thought the price not out of line, since they were paying cash. No interest rate is involved.

The dealer was happy to set Morgan up with the truck as specified but less than thrilled to not get the financing deal. Morgan left out the part about paying cash until the very end when everything was locked down as to price. She also did not buy the extended warrantee because she and Jessica can fix anything. The dealer watched his maxed out truck roll away and looked sad. I thought he was an ass and said so.

"What's the margin on this thing? Fifty percent?" I complained.

"Easily." Morgan agreed.

"So, he is back there making sad eyes because he could not tack on another thirty grand of stuff?"

"Absolutely." Morgan agreed again. "Does my heart good."

The thing is mammoth, and with only five of us, there is room to spare. Jessica rode upfront with Morgan, and I sat in the back at Morgan's insistence ('You sit up front, and you'd be distracting me the whole way there. I know how you are.' She correctly accused me.). In the back I am behind Morgan, Angel in the middle, Vera safely behind Jessica where she would not be tempted to start anything with me. I stretched out like I am in a limo and only bother Morgan when we are stopped. I am not crazy. We are in a truck a city block long towing a massive RV. Morgan needs to be paying attention when we are in motion.

The driver gets to choose music, so Walter Clark Jr is playing at a low level. Low to make it so we can talk. Not that Morgan plays music at insane volumes ever. Not with her hearing.

Vera is having trouble believing what our planned first stop in New Orleans will be.

"Really. Our first stop is at an RV park where Jessica and Angel will talk to some women who thought, before you explained it to them, that they are descendants of priestesses and that you, Morgan, convinced are a Saint?" Vera asked, utterly incredulous.

"That's the plan. Also get me a lovely Dansiki, but that's later." Jessica said. "Morgan and Adrian can't go in, because they have these people believing that she has a pet Vampire. She does, but he is jointly owned and operated. They went after Angel and her daughter, so we hope that Angel showing up puts them off balance. Knowing what we know now about Astrals, and their relationships with Sirens and Vampires, I'll be her girlfriend, or rather, she'll be mine. We'll squeeze them for everything they know about Astrals, since they knew enough to go after Angel in the first place. We never thought to ask how they knew that since we did not understand at the time that was not part of their grand delusion."

"Welcome to the Grand Delusion..." Morgan sang and misquoted Styx.

"Is it weird she has a song for everything?" Vera asked Angel.

"I'm used to it." Angel said. "Those two love it." She added, pointing at Jessica and me at the same time.
